September 21st, 2016 02:16 AM #11Those are 2 different things.
I'll try to give an analogy:
VPN: A special road just for those who know it. Similar to exclusive subdivisions or military camps. You can only get in if you have permission or homeowners sticker. This really requires correct settings. Otherwise, it would not work.
PROXY: This is impersonating. Let's say you want to go inside ABS-CBN, you either pose as an employee or ask an employee to vouch for you. This just do the job for you. The only difference is you do not have control or idea on what they are doing to allow you to pass.
Some people interchange these 2 but they are really different.

I've been using VPNs for all manner of secure connections... VPN to the office, to my home network, and OpenVPN from my home to the US to access geographically-blocked content. The latter is primarily used to stream media content so not much personal info is being exchanged. If there are, they're in https anyway.

hmmm. a company that offers internet access via VPN?
it would depend.
a. how reliable is their VPN infrastructure?
b. how much per month? What is their SLA?
and could this be legit? i mean, may license ba sila to sell these services with NTC?
maski madaming problema sa Globe and PLDT, dun ako. gateway ang gamit, hindi VPN.
