i've been using Thunderbird for a while and I've found its JUNK filter to be good at removing that type of unwanted mail. Although, it has to be "trained" at first.

if you are using a client based email system... the suggested software to use is Thunderbird. Its a free download from www.mozilla.org ... Aside from it's built-in filters, you can also "train" it to recognize and delete junkmail.

Like illnesses, prevention is still better than cure. Things to watch out for.

    - Giving your e-mail address to websites, usually for registration purposes.
    - If absolutely necessary, what you can do is use a secondary address, which will then be your catch basin for spam.
    - Clicking on the "opt-out" links in spam mails. In some cases, this actually increases your chances of receiving spam. Think, "Aha, got a live one there!"
    - Using those fancy autoreply/vacation/out-of-office features in some mail clients.

I'll post more when I remember them.

    1. use a good spam filter (e.g. as stated above) and adjust the filter to your desired level.
    2. use disposable email id's when visiting websites for registration purposes only.

maganda na ang filtering system ng yahoo email...and gmail hindi ko pa natitingnan.

sa yahoo email ko, halos 99% accurate sila (bring things in the bulk bin).

yung nakakalusot, I label it spam and send it sa admin ng yahoo.

i use two email addresses 1 for work (pop/my domain) and another for for general purpose (gmail). yung work email ko gets no spam kasi nobody else use it another than my clients and sometimes my wife lang. yung gmail ko nman gets a lot of spam pero maganda naman yung spam filter ng gmail so walang spam na pumapasok sa inbox ko. hope that helps
