Since that's a P4, i'd assume AGP 8x ang gamit nyang videoport, just get the fastest AGP card available, i think it's the 7900 series of Nvidia

upgrade ram to DDr400 1GB dual channel (2 same sticks). better if 2GB since RAM now is very cheap.


upgrade HD to SATA2, 7200rpm. 10,000rpm SATA2 is best but a bit expensive.

YOu can upgrade the processor to higher speed also.



If you want something better, build a completely new system based on the Intel QuadCore series.

check out this site: pcx.com.ph. i buy my stuff from them and while i'm aware that there are cheaper options out there, this store has never let me down. yup, go with the memory upgrade first but i think you'd see a greater improvement if you install a decent agp video card. if you're going for a cpu upgrade, i think it would be better to upgrade your mobo as well to be able to use the newer core 2 duos or amds.

what chassis is your optiplex built on? (full desktop, mini tower or small form factor?) if you have the small form factor, you're unfortunately out of luck. you can't upgrade.

kung full desktop or mini tower, have to replace the aging psu first (a new 380w coolermaster psu costs around 1.6k). the optiplex series (released mid 2002) come with either a 250 or a 300w psu. its definitely not going to be enough to power a graphics card upgrade.

also, the most decent agp gaming cards (7900gs - around 6k) require a separate 6 pin power connector which only newer psus have.

finally, a 512 stick of ddr400 ram costs around 1.3k and a stick of 1 gig ram costs around 3k.

if im correct the optiplex gx260 is a small form factor. yung manipis bro.. so in otherwords.. di kasya ang mga full cards sa tower mo. limited masyado ang options mo jan (usually RAM upgrades, USB peripherals, HDD, optical drive upgrades lang).

Instead of trying to make it work as a gaming system its better to buy a another tower.. kahit clone system lang.

Palitan mo yung "Intel(R) Extreme graphics " ng mas malufet. GeForce or ATi radeon

kung pwede sana kaya lang hindi raw yata pwede kasi manipis lang daw yung chassis ng pc ko. anong series kaya sa Ge force or ATI radeon ang pwede. o kaya talgang kailangan ko na talaga siguro ng bago. thanks sa reply sir
