Help! My PC won't shut down!

I click Start -> Shut down then lalabas yung 'End Task - Wait - Cancel' thingy, tapos when I click End Task, walang nangyayari, hindi nag-shushutdown.

Whenever I start the PC, may 'illegal operation' na lumalabas, it says something like 'rundl23'.

Virus ba ito? Sorry if I sound stupid...

What program does not end when shutting down?

What version of windows do you use?

Using win2k or win xp you can try this command in the dos prompt: sfc /scannow

this will check for any corrupt files for windows itself and replace them with good versions, however if the problem is caused by an application you would need to identify the app that is crashing and uninstall or reinstall it

"Illegal Operation"? He's probably running Windows 98.

The Win9x series is known to be unreliable and the can't-shutdown problem is a notorious one.

Ang hirap alisin nyan. Reformat mo na lang. Back-up your files first. Kung may system restore na sana yan, you could also use it.

hahaha... sickness ng PC ko din yan. usually reformat okay na ulit. pero once nag-internet ka at natsambahan ka ulit ng spyware, yari, ganun ulit.

nakailang reformat na ako ganun pa din. all i do is wait. kaso hassle kai everytime ganun na lang lagi.



additonal question... pag nilakihan ko ba yung memory ng PC without upgrading the processor, bibilis na kaya yun when i install win2000? dati kasi halos gumapang eh lalo na pag naginternet na ako. kaya binalik ko na lang sa win98 ulit.

Chances are nde caused ng spyware yan...

The problem you have is caused by an application that either was not installed properly or got corrupted.

If you can post screenshots of the actual error messages I may be able to guide you further without reinstalling windows.

try going to Control Panel/Admin Tools/Event Viewer/Applications or Systems

baka makita natin kung anong proggy ang may problema

Kung may WIN CD ka re installed mo nalang OS mo or kung may Latest version ka ng Windows .. from Win98 to XP... upgrade ka nalang sa XP.. aayusin lahat nyan ang mga dll files mo... after that make sure update ka din ng untivirus mo.. maka sure ka na malinis lahat ng spyware..

You haven't told us what version of Windows you are using. If it's still Windows 98, then I suggest you upgrade to the latest Windows XP version. There are just too many vulnerabilities in Windows 98 alone that an anti-virus/spyware cannot address.

get a utility that forces the pc to shutdown at download.com. also check you disk, most probably there are corrupt or missing files.Scanning for viruses with an updated program would also be good. good luck

back up files tapos format all drives.. tapos ang mga virus.. tapos instal new OS windows Xp Professional bro.. fresh na fresh.. lagyan mo avast anti virus * avast.com just free..

Could be anything from all the above reasons. If you want specific answers I suggest you describe what happened or you did before the problem occured(e.g. installed/uninstalled applications, visited websites, etc.,).

You could try to download and install HiJackThis:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
and post the result to try pinpoint the problem(baka makuha sa registry editing lang yan).

If you suspect a virus o spyware, try this:
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp
to fix eg. registry entries, services etc. made by known malwares.

O pede na rin upgrade mo OS mo na lang other than Window$ 98 (Microsoft has already stopped support for Win9X and WinME...)
