help!!firewall settings

when i sign in sa windows live messenger it says "we can't sign you in WLM your firewall may be blocking WLM from connecting to the service.please check your firewall settings" when i tried troubleshooting it it says na .NET messenger not connected daw..
help naman mga computer gurus di ko pa kasi kabisado firewall settings eh..

Generally if you are located in a network with a WAN router, you will have two firewalls.

One is built into Windows especially if you are using Win XP or newer.

The second one is built into the router hardware itself. Chances are, your problems is with this firewall. For the security of your network, I suggest you don't turn it off or randomly adjust settings you don't know about.
