Today at the Sony E3 press conference in Los Angeles, California, it was revealed to much fanfare that the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5, exclusively on the PlayStation 3 system, will be in stores on November 2, 2010.

Since its debut over 10 years ago, the Gran Turismo franchise has set the standard for racing games in graphics, driving physics, depth, and variety. The release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in 2008 for the PlayStation3 console gave fans a glimpse of some of the technological advancements to come in Gran Turismo 5. And now, Gran Turismo 5 is set to raise the bar again with an unprecedented 950+ cars, a wealth of online multiplayer and community features, and just about every style of racing imaginable, all built around a brand-new advanced physics engine and Gran Turismo's signature cutting-edge graphics.

GT fans will finally be able to experience what will be the biggest and best Gran Turismo game ever, and a limited Collector's Edition for Gran Turismo 5 will also be available. Retailing for $99.99 SRP, the Collector's Edition features a must-have collection of items hand-picked for Gran Turismo fans. Click here to learn more information about the Collector's Edition. Quantities will be limited, so serious Gran Turismo fans should pre-order their copy.

Finally, Gran Turismo 5 will offer exclusive in-game cars as pre-order incentives, including a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a Nissan GT-R GT500, a McLaren F1 and more. Each car features an exclusive Gran Turismo-themed livery custom-designed by Polyphony Digital, with select performance upgrades over the standard versions of the cars available in the game. Pre-orders offers are coming soon at participating retailers. These pre-order cars are available for both the standard and Collector's Edition versions.

The question is, totoong-totoo ba na sa November na ang launch date ng Gran Turismo 5 or baka ma-delay pa?

If nandito na, will you buy it or not?

    Decide...

It's confirmed. It was only delayed because of extra code that had to be rewritten to satisfy Sony (I don't know if it was network code, the code for 3D, or what... damn Sony...).

But it's confirmed. 3D... car damage... fully modelled interiors... over 600 cars... day-to-night transition in real time... droooooool.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

High/Low beam, dynamic crowd, attempt to keep graffiti on the nurburgring up-to-date as possible (exception of profanity), car models acumulate dirt, functioning reverse light, interior lighting (night).

“While racing the 24 hours of Nurburgring, you can smell people’s barbecues — we couldn’t recreate that.” — Kazunori Yamauchi

    WTF.

There's also the AI driver wearing a white jumpsuit and wearing a white Simpson Bandit helmet who may or may not be The Stig.

Am I excited? Why, yes, yes I am.

There's only ONE reason I own a PS3. And that reason is Gran Turismo. It's the only thing I play. :hysterical:

So technically, as of this writing...you should be owning a "Prologue" version of the PS3 instead of the full-on deal. Bwahahaha!

C'mon Polyphony, release the damn thing already. Gestation is taking too long.

By the way our very own Zamboanga City seems to be featured as an actual track in GT5. Check out the Wikipedia article.

They were going to last year, Sony stopped them. Asked them to add some code for some Sony feature.

Might be a joke? Haven't heard anything at GTPlanet (I trust GTPlanet more because there are one or two insiders there, and they're more careful about what they post).

Anyone can alter a wiki if the editors aren't watching carefully.

Would be freaking fantastic kung totoo.

Looks like in Japan, when this game launches on the first week on November, they'll be offering some kind of limited edition bundle.

    Look:

This will be different from the U.S. version limited edition.

    I bought a PS3 because of GT5.

There are rumors that a Sarao jeepney would be included. And seeing it on terrorizing the Top Gear test track would be so hillarious! GO 4BA1!!

    Ilang buwan na lang. :D

I've been sitting on the fence but I might steer towards buying a PS3 myself too because of GT5...as well as MGS4, which I've yet to play.

My PS3 is set exclusively for GT. After finishing Fallout 3 and becoming entirely disenchanted with NFS Shift (great game physics, hobbled with arcade gameplay and lots of bugs), it has been doing nothing except the occassional high-def video.

    ----

Lots of new things confirmed for GT5.

    Racing Karts

    Track Editor

A whole bunch of new tracks, including:
    -Monza
-Nurburgring GP (previously they had the North loop only)
    -Indy Speedway
    -Top Gear Test Track
    (not a complete list)

And a whopper load of new cars.

Thinking of getting the US pre-order pack. Going to bug my cousin in the US to order it and ship it to me.

    (warning, grin limit exceeded).

As it is... rumors of Sarao and Zamboanga are not verified... and are so out there that it's 100.1% unlikely. I'm a member of GTPlanet, and our forum insider there posted much of the info we're hearing about now in teaser form last year.

I'm glad they fixed the force feedback on the final retail version as confirmed by the guys at Insidesimracing.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdH8tFpkKYA"]YouTube- Gran Turismo 5 E3 2010 Special Report by Inside Sim Racing sponsored by Simraceway[/ame]

the FFB in prologue feels disconnected (a noticeable delay) and there's no deadzone setting. In Simracing, you even feel the strips of paint on both sides of the road, asphalt, etc. Gran Turismo Prologue had some of it but the FFB just takes you out of the experience.

and I sure hope they fix this:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr2us7TpKqI"]YouTube- Gran Turismo 5 Tire Physics 101 - Tire Locked Steering[/ame]

    Tire locked steering

And another thing, this might sound to excessive but is tire deformation confirmed for GT5?
Forza 3 and Simracing (iRacing, LFS) had it since the early 2000's. It was a huge deal when Forza 3 came out. I can't seem to find a GT5 Tech demo video for it.

But recent news is promising, I've read somewhere Kazunori totally rebuilt the physics engine from the ground up and it's a totally different code compared to prologue. I'm expecting the BEST from GT5 retail version and I feel like we're totally gonna get it.

Corny naman Nurburgring GP eh hehehe It's a really watered-down version of the Nordschleife.

Maybe if Polyphony brought in the forgotten Sudschleife...

Ive waited and waited and my PS3 has gathered dust. i havent used it in years.

Im not holding my breath on the release date. Forza 3 for my xbox360 was good enough and still is.

Not saying I wont buy it if it comes out cause I will. But I dont like the 4 year wait for this damn game.
That's why i've waited til the slim version came out. I got bored so I got a strut bar for my car.

I got GTA and COD so I wouldn't be bored. Maybe I'll get Katamari too to cure the boredom.

Polyphony only took so long because Sony forced them to push back the date to incorporate some networking features that they wanted in the game. If not for interference from Sony, it would have been released last year.
