Just for sharing since it's a gomo topic.

I have my postpaid smart and gomo on my phone. On my tablet i have a prepaid globe sim. I thought of using gomo for it so I can avail of the no expiry data load. Instead of getting a new number i tried the mobile number portability that the telcos now offer. Not bad at all. Tuesday i got the required USC from globe then ordered a gomo switch easy sim. Today, Thursday the gomo SIM arrived and I was able to port my old globe number to it in less than an hour. Not bad. Now I have no expiry data as well on the tablet.

Nice, so now I can switch my personal globe prepaid into a gomo sim and discard my other gomo sim. Is this safe? I get my OTPs here and a bit nervous since I learned about the sim swap scam.

Should be safe since there's incoming sms and call function even if you only have data credits so otp should be fine.

Thanks, one more question, where or how did you process it, online thru globe one or physical store?

For globe you send USC to 5050 using the number you want replaced. They'll send an sms with a link to set an appointment. From what I recall you can choose to set the appointment by either going to a store of your choice or virtual by having an agent call you. You'll get an SMS confirmation. On the date of appointment, whether you go to a physical store or virtual, it should just last less than 5 minutes and the agent should be able to process the USC request and you'll get the code via SMS. If there's a problem with your number then it takes longer. When you get the code, go to the gomo site to apply specifically clicking "keep my existing number" so it'll lead you to make a purchase for the sim for switching. When it arrives, place the new sim in the phone then input the details needed. I made sure the current globe is still active so I can see what happens. In about 10 mins the globe sim loses signal. The gomo SIM will take some time for the porting to finish. Some say 30 mins while others say a couple hours. Mine was done in about 45 mins. Make sure data is turned on even if you're connected to wifi. I think that's something needed because when it was turned off the sim kept on showing a notification that it's processing the request and wait and it kept repeating over and over. Then I remembered gomo is really data based so I checked the phone settings. After turning data on, a message appeared that porting is done. Then you register on the app and that's it.

Hindi rin pala maganda na malaki data mo sa no expiry. We aren't able to consume 30gb in one year kasi nga backup lang ito pag mahina yung smart.

I'm not sure. It's in an iPad so it isn't capable of calls and text.

Stupid question: Is unused data going to be roll-overed to the 2nd year if you reload before the SIM card's anniversary date?

    yespo.
    mine was.

total data = unused + reload

after the reload, and i got the hang of it,
i was using gomo like crazy.
it looks like i will run out of data before the data times out.

Good to know. It's just backup internet anyway for when PLDT decides to play hooky. Internet is kinda important since going into the next year, the kids will still be mostly hybrid.

Can't even consume the 30 GB I loaded this year, had to convert it to calls and text pa. I think most owners really cannot consume the data as it's most probably used as backup only. Which is probably why they have a lot of data conversion promos.

But it still is cheap, before this, I had to buy 300 kesos of bundled data per month just to roll it over.screenshot_2022-12-24-09-40-07-949-edit_ph.gomo.gomoph.jpg

    from what i understand,
it's a globe-operated sim card with data plan containing xxx gigabytes.
but one can program it to accomodate talk and text as well, 'ala ordinary sim card.
i use mine when my smart sim has weak signal, i.e., some ayala malls.
i also use it for my zoom meetings and vibers.

gomo is telecom na wala sariling frequency, walang infrastructure

may agreement sila with a real telecom (Globe) to use the network

they have their own promos independent of Globe

the promos don't matter to globe as long as gomo pays globe kung ano usapan nila

25 GB pa malapit na mag expire. I'm thinking of switching to smart for my wife's iPad. Sa smart kasi may mas maliit na no expiry GB purchases kaya hindi mahirap ubusin. Hirap pa naman sa iPad eh walang text kaya di makaka receive ng warning.

Why not just reload it so it'll be good for another year? Data will be roll-overed anyway so hindi masasayang. It should be good for another year.

I will do the same prior to the next anniversary next year.
