Nakakatakot yung converted units na yan. Yep, this was a good workhorse. Reliable too.

I remember packing in 9 adults and 2 kids on a trip from Manila to Baguio and back with a stopover at Aling Lucings sisig sa riles in Pampanga.

Now, I really miss that brute

if the conversion process is right, walang problem yan.. yung iba kasi will cheap out and just cut the steering.. pero may maayos na conversion using original left hand drive steering parts.. since may left and right hand drive version yan usually may mga abang na talaga sa chassis and body panels.

yeah, nakakamiss din talaga yun mga sasakyan na "basic" no electronics controlling the engine.. talagang start and go lang.. hehe

Were they able to fix the wiper orientation? I remember hirap ang visibility kung tag-ulan if converted ung unit.

Pati yung mga steering wheel stalks (lights, turn signals, wiper controls) baliktad din pag converted unit. It takes getting used to.

I drove a converted multicab and everytime I would turn and signal, wiper ang nag o-on

Eto may video how they do the RHD to LHD conversion nowadays. Basically minimize to almost no "putol"/cutting na.

Interesting thing I learned while watching Doug DeMuro review an R34 Skyline GT-R on YT.

The difference in stalk placement apparently applies to RHD Asian cars only. RHD European cars have the same stalk orientation as our LHD steering wheels.

It turns out the shortage is going to get much worse before it gets better.

Our modern society is basically built on embedded microchips on equipment, machinery, instruments, and consumer products. The ripple effect of this will be a key issue for governments and economies in the next 18 months.
Don't forget, new cars nowadays have a ridiculous amount of computer electronics. Many even have WiFi hotspots built-in. Obviously, all of them need chips too.

I for one would like cars to go back to analog. I haven't even established accounts for the entertainment electronics in my 2019 car. No plan to either. It's just something else that can be hacked. No Apple Play for me either....even though I have an iPhone.

Ang nakakainis its 95% of the time its the sensors itself that go bad rather than say the actual mechanism they are monitoring.

Maybe not back to analog as electronics have really improved emissions and fuel economy. However, I do wish car manufacturers would soon reach the point where they'd finally stop adding more and more "features" to cars just for the heck of it. It's starting to get ridiculous really.
