    Here is the reason why...

Upgrading is pretty EASY too! Two plastic panel covers, one for the memory module, and one for the HDD/WI-FI/3G modules. Upgrading the HDD to a higher capacity or SSD, and upgrading the wifi to wireless N can be done in a jiffy. I was able to replace my HDD in just two minutes. It only took 5 screws. The empty mini pci-e slot on the left below the HDD is for the mini pci-e 3G modem. Why is it empty? Here's why. According to Lenovo people, they were supposed to release a 3G version too, aside from the current release. However, they said that Globe Telecoms BLOCKED its release saying they won't be able to sell their USB dongles (Visibility and Tattoo) anymore. To me, that's plain selfish! I don't know how could Globe do that. But since they were able to do it, then it only means it's up to the end users to find the compatible modem if they want the internal 3G functioning.

Same with Dell and HP I believe. One time I was at our service department and was wondering why the dismantled laptop system boards have SIM card holders. They're built-in on the board, not through a mini-PCI. And this was last year.

Ever wondered why no local laptop/netbook with built-in 3G modem?
