That is a substantial savings, bro....35% ha?

    Time to dive into it.,...

ung nag sasabi na nakakatipid ng kuryente pag gumamit ng power factor correction capacitors hindi pala totoo un.

Kung industrial or commercial load ka, makakatipid ang power factor correction. May penalty kasi ang Meralco if you go below a certain level for your PF. PF correction helps when you have a lot of motors and inductive loads.

    For residential use, no savings.

yan ba yung mga enrgy saving device na binibenta sa ACE hardware at DIY?

agree ako doon sa savings sa penalty pero ung tipid sa kuryente hindi naman daw kahit na madami pang inductive loads.

Our capacitor bank failed last month. Our kw demand increased immediately. Went back to normal after we repaired it.

Capacitor does save money with inductive loads for commercial and industrial applications. It also improves your electrical efficiency by reducing kvar.

What is the kw demand reading as compared to previous months? afaik, kw demand is the true power. reactive power ung sa capacitor kaya hindi related.

Im not applying for net metering scheme, but when i turn on all my 1000kw solar grid tied inverter, tapos walang aircon. Instant zero consumption.

So what i do is i only turn on my panels whenever i need them. Pag aircon ako sa umaga, bukas lahat panel.

Saka na ko msg net metering, singilin ka pa ng meralco ng 20k just for applying for it.

The KW demand went up from 817 IRC to 875. This is based on our electric meter that records the highest KW demand for the billing period. The electric power provider bills us based on the demand charge (KW) and consumption (kwhr).

KW is active power or true power. Reactive power is volt ampere (Vars). Reactive power does not do any work. Its basically a system loss. It heats up wires and transformers resulting in wasted energy.

Best analogy I heard is to think of it as a glass of beer. The foam is the apparent power and the liquid is the true power. So the less foam you have, the more beer you get. With low power factor, you have a lot of foam. So if you have .5 power factor, you have half a glass of foam. Capacitors improve your power factor by reducing the foam so you get to use more true power or beer.

Also, capacitor banks improve your voltage by a few volts. Maybe 1 to 5 volts depending on your system. The higher you voltage, the lower your current or amps. So capacitors do help for commercial and industrial loads. For residential loads, they are not worth it.

    What is net metering?

I think you mean 1000 watt solar grid. 1000kw is 1MW you can power a barangay with that much power. If you dont mind, where did you buy your solar setup and how much did it cost?

Is this for residential or commercial establishment sir? 1000kw is a lot power. I heard that MServ is offering metering scheme for Meralco.

1000w lang yAn, typo lang. It already cost an arm and leg. Pano pa kaya 10000kw? Hehe

    Residential lang.

Bought one long before. Wala naman naging effect. Naka plug lang sa bahay.

it's just an oversize capacitor. it works on electric motors. the more motors you have in the house, the "more effective" it is.
it actually diminishes the reading in the analog electric meters (daw!), but not the digital meters (daw!)..

but hey! oversize capacitors are not cheap.
