Need a new DVD player for everyday home (ab)use. I tried ganzklar, ok naman kaya lang nagloloko na sya after 1 1/2mo of continious use. namimili na sya.

Ayaw ko na sa Philips kse had 3 units. After a few months lang namimili na agad.

I need a read all play all, tough and no nonsense DVD player. I watch DVD movies everyday with heavy scanning, etc.

What do you guys recommend? Please state average price also. Ty!

The problem with high end dvd players kasi is that sooner or later merong problema. My officemate bought a Phillips dvd player at the same time as I bought my HUG dvd player. Sa kanya wala na ngayon, mine still runs okay pa. P6k for the Phillips vs. P2k hug ko. At least kung masira man okay lang for me.

I am quite happy with our Philips DVD Player, which can play avi and other assorted file types.

It also comes with a USB port, so I really don't need to burn the files in a CD/DVD,- I just need to download them on my flash drive....

saan mo nabili yang HUG dvd player? ngayon ko lang narinig yan a? parang gusto kong subukan yan. ty sa tip.

    * froshie1: yes, i am also considering this pensonic. minsan nga mas matibay pa yang china brands kesa sa branded talaga. tapos sonrang mura kaya di masakit pag nasira .

For traditional DVD, I still prefer my LiteOn DVD Recorder. It cost $90 when I bought it over three years ago. I find a DVD Recorder much better for recording movies/shows (from DirectTV) than either Mac or pc. Recordings I made to a computer sometimes had audio/video sync issues. Not so with a DVD Recorder.

As for the next gen...... I'm sitting it out until either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD dies or low-cost dual format players are released.

Haven't you read the news lately? It's all over the internet, HD DVD is losing big time against Blu-ray. Warner Bros. just pick Blu-ray (used to be neutral) and now Paramount and Dreamworks (about the only 2 that chose HD DVD) are now about to jump ship in favor of Blu-ray. Those HD DVD unit you recommended are about to become obsolete and very expensive just to play regular DVD not to mention they won't probably play pirated DVDs

I recommend any DVD that has HDMI input (Samsung has them for under $90) so if you have an HDTV it will upconvert your DVDs to 480p, 720p, 1080p and no your regular DVD won't become HiDef, they will just be clearer on an HDTV screen.

I'm surprised nobody even mentioned Pioneer. I have 3 Pioneer DVD players at home. Never had any problems whatsoever.

Strange about Philips or baka ako lang.

I have a Philips player for about 3 years now. Ok naman sya. Plays all types of DVD. Maski na gasgas na talaga ang CD/DVD, nakakaplay naman sya. This is what I would recommend though.

Of courses, kung less than 2k lang budget, dami dyan cheap na players. I believe may comparison doon sa pinoydvd.com. You might want to check it out.

kung low-budget, dami dyan - nextbase, xenon, pensonic, hug... di naman nagkakalayo features & performance. piliin mo na lang yong pinaka-marami features - DTS/DD/HDMI/Optical, Coax, RGB input/USB Input/etc...

i have a high end philips years before, pero namili na ng disc after a while. kaya naka-stock lang sa bahay.

the recent philips i have is already 2 years old or so, wala pa problem, di mapili ng disc. inaatay ko nga lang masira para makabili ako bago. i'm eyeing Pioneer DV-600AV-S (1080p upscaling dvd player). medyo pricier than generic ones, pero mas gusto ko kasi build quality ng branded, and their features. i guess hindi na rin mapili sa disc yong mga branded today. and of course, the warranty is there.

of course, for kids use playing Barney dvd althoughout the day, i'd buy a generic na lang na mura, exclusive for their usage. hehe.

i had to replace a china-made dvd player before, because the remote is misplaced. di ako makahanap replacement at di naman sya pwede sa universal remotes.

thansk for all remmendation. di ko tuloy alam pipiliin .

I also have a high end yamaha dvd player. ok sya kaya lang nung nasira (loading tray) P4,500 agad halaga kaya ayoko nang kunuha ng high end dvd player simply because pag nasira mahal din parts and labor.

Mukhang ok i-check out yung cheap dvd player comparisson sa pinoydvd.com

I am thinking also of that liteon dvd player and recorder. Since nawala na VHS di na nga ako nakaka record ng mga regular tv shows (like bubble gang). Matibay ba kaya to?

LiteOn isn't a brand well-known for DVD players. It is well-known for making computer DVD burners. Mine's lasted over 3 years so far. But, I can only speak from my experience.

Considering most other branded DVD recorders are 2.5x-3x the price I paid for my LiteOn, I wouldn't cry over it if it went TEPOK. But, hey. I've been lucky so far.
