Do not buy uhd TV if hindi naman UHD mga movies mo. Sayang lang. FULL HD are enough.

What's weird at home here is the two oldest TV brands we have are Dynex and Emerson, both from 2010.
The Dynex are two 24" 1080p TVs being used as computer monitors. I bought them at Best Buy. Even with the backlit light at 100% ever since we bought them, both TVs still work great.
The Emerson (Funai, Japan) is a 39" 1080p TV. It's the biggest size that will fit in our old entertainment center. There are horror stories about the Funai brand. But, I didn't buy the lowest priced one. I guess we've been lucky.
Otherwise, the main brand for our TVs are Sony Bravias. We have a 55" Bravia at the master bedroom and a 48" in the kitchen. We used to have an older 42" Bravia. But, we gave it to our niece when she moved to an apartment of her own.
We've had two TVs die on us. Our very first LCD TV was a 32" 2003 720p Magnavox. It died completely in 2010. We also have a 32" 2014 720p Hisense LED TV that used to be in the kitchen. The backlit light went out this year. I plan on getting the backlit light replaced and use it as an external monitor for my laptop. But, I won't leave the backlit light at 100%.

Majority of the houses in the Philippines do not have grounding. The power distribution here in MM uses a split phase system - two hots and 1 neutral ground. 1 hot is 110v and the other hot is 110v giving you a total of 220v nominal. Nothing is connected to the neutral ground.
Hi brush
paano pala machecheck ang "dirty electricity" sa bahay?
And how to correct?
we had a trinitron since the NES/famicom days. it had to be repaired a few times but it was cheap to repair. we just gave it away eventually
We got the LG 55's UJ model UHD 4K OLED smart TV 2017 model with orig price of 64000 down to 38000 discounted cash purchased from Anson Cash and Carry. Everyone is happy except the wallet lol. This our first smart TV. Sana tumagal at least 7-10 years.

I couldn't agree more. A 720p or even 480p will stay relatively sharp in a 1080p TV, but played or shown on a 4K TV it's atrocious. Only problem is it's getting harder and harder to find 1080p screens today. Even the 4K TVs have fallen in prices already to "presyong abot kaya".
OLED screen mas mahal kasi conrol ng brightness niya is per pixel. Sa IPS yung brightness is per panel. Better blacks, HDR and contrast.

magaganda mostly ang current 4k tv upscalers bro. inis ako last year bago palang ako nakabili / test, since konti nalang selection ng 1080p tv * 50" and up. luckily matyaga yung sales guy sa sm when i was testing youtube clips, as low as 360p (bagal ng internet sa loob ng SM) and was able to produce decent upscaled vid
TCL's 4K offering is starting to look good to me. I was eyeing one of the QLED screens for when our Devant or Skyworth dies but at half the price the TCL 6-series looks like a good buy that won't break the bank. Its 12 contrast zones and Dolby HDR should be a big improvement over the standard LCD on our Devant. I just hope it won't start sending info about what I watch back to our commie overlords.

Has anyone tried playing 4k videos on their smart TV using the you tube app? Hangang 1080p lang nakuha ko because of my sucky PLDT DSL connection.
