Concerned din ako since sabi sa ad eh HSPDA card ang kasama, so does this mean the speed is really 3.5G capable? I mean is, lintek na Globe yan eh napaka-limited ng 3G coverage nila! Argh! Similar to Globe's Visibility but they use EDGE and at that price point, may libre ka nang Lenovo ThinkPad with a 2-year subcription, parang cellphone.

with globe mobile broadband, you can get internet access anywhere as long as may signal ng globe yung kinaroroonan mo, but yun lang nga since limited ang coverage ng 3G, broadband connection is also limited... but sa areas na wala 3G, you'll be switched to either GPRS or EDGE... so may internet access ka pa rin, but at dial up speed na lang nga... and then sa places na may globequest WIFI hotspot, you'll be able to access it din using the same account you have with your globe mobile broadband subscription.

3G with HSPDA was just launced recently so don't expect much from it. I'd rather get a fixed DSL line or fixed wireless broadband. Anything mobile, specially in our country, is not always reliable. Pero if you're that type of guy who loves to be mobile then there's no choice but to use the service.

That's exactly the point! Bad trip lang sa Globe eh hindi complete coverage kahit sa key cities nationwide like Makati, Manila, Cebu, Tagaytay and likes. AND they don't have a more competitive aquisition package against what PLDT WeRoam is offering (e.g. free laptop for a 2 year subcription).

so better wait if you could... 2,000 per month is quite expensive din for that kind of service.

Oo nga eh. Sana mag-labas sila ng mas magandang offers and service to beat PLDT.

Oh well... I guess we all have to wait then. Wala naman tayong (consumers) choice eh.

I hope we can get Wimax out faster.

Bagal kasi ng Wi-Fi. 802.11 standard can cut it that much.

    802.16 ang mas mabilis.

802.11 was designed for short range connections... Kasama jan ang bluetooth which was also intended for personal short range connectioncs...

Talagang WiMax was designed from the ground up to replace 3G networks which means this is better suited for long range connections, as well as automatic switching...

On Topic: Ang Globe Wireless Broadband HSPDA ba parang Smart Bro? yung pwede kang magkaruon ng fixed wireless service? o pang laptop at pang celfone lang to like WeRoam?

Globe's HSDPA is purely a GSM service unlike Smart Bro which uses LMDP. LMDP is point to point and is not Wifi as they falsely advertised during initial launch. Maybe that's why they renamed it Smart Bro. And of course being point to point, it is not mobile.

Globe HSDPA is different from SmartBro because SmartBro is fixed while HSDPA allows you to go mobile and access the internet at 3.5G speed.

i just learned recently that PLDT weroam also offers 3G HSDPA, i assume that the speed is if not similar di naman siguro inferior to globe, monthly due niya is just 1,700 lang compared to 2,000 ng globe, since smart network gamit niya, i assume mas malaki ang broadband coverage niya compared to globe's.

i'll be trying the pldt weroam prepaid soon, speed is said to be at around 220 kbps lang, a little behind smart bro's 384 kbps, but as long as data transfer is fast, i think it won't be a problem for me, besides, i'm after the mobility lang naman talaga eh, sayang kung naka notebook ka tapos naka hook ka naman sa LAN cable
