peeps, pls help me decide naman. i'm planning to play around with wifi over the New Year break.

    Linksys WRT54GS
    pros:

1.) two antennae; i'm assuming that this would have better coverage over my house

2.) has more flash RAM, Broadcom chip inside

    cons:

    1.) mas mahal ng ~1k
    2.) b/g lang siya

    TP-Link TL-WR642G

    pros
    1.) cheaper
    2.) (pre)Draft N support

    cons
    1.) one antenna only

i'm planning to buy a cheap TP-Link card to pair with this btw

    tia

pards gaano ba kataas ang bahay ninyo?

btw a G would do if all you do is browse and dld thru the net unless you're transferring files within your LAN an N will be much better than the G.

What's your current router? Ano nagiging problema mo sa current router mo?

I'll vote for the TP only because of the pre-N support and the price. pre-N supposedly has a farther range, so you may not need the 2 antennae of the Linksys. Then again, I have no experience with the brand, so I don't know how reliable it is or not. Netgear gamit ko e, 4 years already.

My home and office have been upgraded from the Linksys to the TP wifi routers. I don't detect much difference in wifi coverage area if you consider the original Linksys antennas. But if you upgrade to the high gain version of the linksys, you can gain about 20% to 25% more signal strength in spotty areas.

Given the price, the TP-Link is a good choice against Linksys.

Kung hindi naman ganun kataasan iyong 2nd floor mo, mag D-Link ka na lang hahaha. Kung mataas iyong pagitan ng 1st floor sa 2nd floor mag Linksys WRT54GS.

I would rather choose the TP-LINK. So far the more recent models of Linksys don't have the long term reliability I have expected from it.

I have been using the 2 units of Linksys WRT54GS for quite some time na.. okey sya and reliable. if ul use it sa 2nd floor, if ur just on top of the router okey lang yung stock antenna. But if alittle far try using the high-gain antenna.. dagdag sa bayad though.

hmm, i've had several bad experiences with D-Link products...from LAN cards to WiFi cards and IP Cams. malas ata ako dun B)

    i think i'm gonna go with TP-Link B)

thx for the info. actually may bad experience na rin kami sa linksys. 2 times kami nag palit ng router (not wireless) for unkown reason na naka on nga peron ayaw naman mag connect. replaced it with d-link wireless router and so far ok naman. try ko naman itong tp link dito sa bahay ko, magkano na kaya ang price nito ngayon?

    happy new year !!

it's pretty cheap ... just over P1K for a wired router and under P3K for the wireless if I remember it right.

Add ko sa choices mo: Asus WL-520GU about the same price, better brand name and with built in print server.

Saw the unit in Vmall this am. Forgot the name of the shop and did not ask how much.

OT: print servers... yeah, I would have liked it if some of the available routers have built-in printer servers, especially USB printers which are almost the only option these days for printers. I would save me some headache in positioning our office printers.
