I've found the perfect use of my unused DITO sim card, which has accumulated over 140 GB worth of prepaid data since I bought it during the pandemic.
I got one of these bad boys a few months ago, a Carlinkit Tbox Ambient. It connects to most Apple Carplay or Android Auto-ready head units to convert it into a tablet. I'm able to run just about any app without the restrictions of just native Carplay or Auto, particularly video streaming (YT, Netflix, Prime, etc.) Everything is left stock in the car. I just plug in this unit via USB and the Tbox streams to the HU using Carplay/Auto protocol.
For internet connection, that's where the DITO sim comes in. The Tbox connects via 4G/LTE and I've had no issues with reception while driving around Metro Manila, whatsoever. It works even in our basement parking in Makati. I tried using my phone as a hotspot prior to this but having it's own data connection makes it independent and so, it loads up faster and the apps are almost instantly connected to the internet.
Pardon the clutter but this is an older pic. I've since got better at hiding and routing the wires.

Haha. Well, I am amazed that, although DITO was a relatively poor-performer when used as primary data in a smartphone, the experience was absolutely the opposite when I used it in the car.
My guess is that DITO has sufficient cell site coverage outdoors than they have inside buildings (compared to Globe and Smart) and because the car is mostly in the open.
Walang kinalaman sa mga devices in terms of using a hotspot or not.
What I meant was, when the DITO SIM was still in my phone, a lot of the times mabagal sya compared to my main postpaid Globe plan. But now that it's been working very well in the car for a couple of months, it just occurred to me that DITO has very limited distribution of cell sites that are indoors, compared to outdoors. That's why their signal and/or data performance is relatively worse when you're inside a structure or building.
Although, hindi naman absolute. There are still establishments with DITO signal inside. But if you think you can rely on it as your primary data, think again. Kung primary data na mura, go with GOMO instead. It uses Globe infra so you're almost always within their coverage.
But kung Globe na ang primary SIM card mo, it's useless to use GOMO as backup, for the reason I stated above... kung walang signal si Globe, most likely wala din si GOMO. That's why I still use DITO SIM in my phone as backup (different than what's in my car now).
