Does anyone know a software that can convert MKV to either AVI(divx/xvid) (or even MPEG) format and runs under Win98SE?

I need to convert a bunch of video files but my current converters cannot handle MKV format.

Hmmm. MKV=Matroska. Ngayon ko lang nalaman ito. It's a file container much like .avi and .mov. Eto yung homepage at FAQ:

    http://www.matroska.org/technical/guides/faq/index.html

Me download page din para sa mga utilities. My advice, stick with a more common container file or format.

Might it have occured to you that the video files I am trying to convert are in MKV and I am trying to get them into something more common?

Try virtualdubMOD. But very tricky dahil baka mawala sa sync ang audio.
    Baka sakali lang.

Pwede po. Just import your video file into any video editing apps, then save or export a particular frame (a picture may be about 3secs or 75 frames if the video file is PAL or 89.1 frames if it's NTSC) into .jpg format or any other pic format you want.

How about converting an mkv file to dvd or vcd with Avi2Dvd (shareware?) and then have a program such as Simple Divx convert the dvd/vcd to Divx?
