peeps, mas maganda bang bumili ng laptop with a large display(15" or bigger), or buy a 12" - 14" inch laptop(an asus eee perhaps), then buy a separate lcd display? not gonna do any graphics/gaming stuff naman, just your usual browsing an tv viewing

Just get a laptop with a regular sized display. The bigger the laptop, it would be much heavier to carry around and it also tends to be more expensive too. Spend the saved money on a 19 inch LCD display.

may nakita ako sa bulletin or inquirer kahapon lenovo 14.1 wide, 120gd hdd, 512 ram, no OS. priced at 34k++ intel t2080 dual core. add ka na lang ng ram para mabilis. ayos na yun, kung gusto mo pa larger screen. 19" lcd ngayon below 10k na.

pinag iisipan ko din yang set-up na yan, my 15" laptop then kakabitan ko ng 19" lcd, sa ngayon keyboard at trackball kabit ko. i use a usb hub. dun lahat naka kabit para isa lang plug ko, kakatamad dami ikakabit.

definitely a small laptop and an LCD screen. imo, the only reason to have a big laptop is if you need a very powerful, yet semi-portable rig for gaming or other intensive applications. otherwise, having a big laptop defeats the very purpose for having a laptop.

i had this decision a few months ago, and went with a Dell 27" LCD monitor/HDTV plus a thinkpad X60. i carry my laptop everywhere around the house, and having a 2 lb laptop makes that very convenient. if i need a big screen for viewing something, then i'll plug it in.

I have a 14" HP Pavillion connected to a 19" HP monitor. Currently the external monitor is configured as an extended desktop to have more space. At first I thought 14" was small enough. I am now planning to get a 12" or smaller once I get a new one later. But I guess it really depends on how often do you carry your notebook around.

Just for usual browsing and TV Viewing..

Buy a 12-14" laptop. Try first the 12" if it will make your overall posture happy.

medyo ot po...pero is it advisable to get a plasma tv/display at this time? from what i've read parang mas maraming advantages pa rin ung lcd.

and do lcd displays have a fixed 4-5 year lifespan, i.e. talagang masisira siya after that many years?
