A new mobile app for Filipino commuters can map, broadcast, and even record a trip for safety purposes, and if needed, instantly alert family or friends of any danger encountered while on the road.
Developed by ABS-CBN Digital Media Division and powered by ABS-CBNnews.com, the "PasaHero" app for iOS devices was released Thursday and can now be downloaded from the iTunes store for free.
Once logged in via Facebook or Twitter, the user can choose to "Begin" a trip which will then prompt the entry of relevant details, such as the mode of transportation (taxi, bus, etc.), and the vehicle's plate number and color. The user can also opt to input a photo of the vehicle.
The "My Trip" feature, aside from identifying the device's current location with a map, can track the duration and distance of the trip.
The user can also opt to post information about the trip on Facebook.
Should the user encounter any danger or untoward incident while on the road, he can use the red "Panic Button." Activating this mode will send details of the user's exact location to a list of emergency contacts.
The button can also be used to contact relevant agencies for assistance.
The "Panic" mode likewise automatically records a video through the phone camera, which will then be stored in the user's device.
