OK din ang OEM / Class A na Studio Beats - i have one.
Mahal pa nga bili ko nasa P3500 pa dati. I was able to test the real one owned by my officemate and then I compared to mine.
Sound is exactly the same. Panalo ang bass nito, OK din mids and high.
Try listening to a live audio performance, pati yung noise ng crowd/audience rinig mo
Downside only is it is an active device - meaning need nya ng 2 AAAs to work.

$945 here in the states, there are headphones that go up to $5,000. some people even use amps to get better sounds from their headphones. go to head-fi.org and you'll see how powerful a quality headphone is.

Beats are overhyped, overpriced cans with very poor quality sounds(very SLOOOOW wave response). You won't be able to distinguish and appreciate fine vibrations of instruments

not to mention very atrocious frequency response which distorts everything in your ear

I use Audiotechnica and I wouldn't trade it for Beats 10-20x its price

to be f***ing honest, I'd even say a4tech2 headphones are much better than those things
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

For your son, I would recommend ATH-SJ55. Heavy Bass(not artificially high bass like Beats) and one of the most balanced headphones(good for a lot of genres).

    Audio-Technica ATH-SJ55 Portable Headphones - ATH-SJ55 | AudioCubes.com

But if you want something less expensive there's the ATH-SJ11

    Audio-Technica ATH-SJ11 Portable Headphones - ATH-SJ11 | AudioCubes.com

If your son is an audiophile, the most recommended headphone by a LOT of people is the ATH-M50 ($90-$120)

Audio-Technica - Microphones, headphones, wireless microphone systems, noise-cancelling headphones & more : ATH-M50 : Professional Studio Monitor Headphones (with coiled cable)
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

i agree with ath-m50, the best begginer headphones. yon nga lang pag naka ath-m50 na siya sigurado di na mag downgrade yon ng headphones incase na masira or mawala, kaya sa susunod na bibilan mo siya ng headphones mas mahal na bibilin mo sa kanya.:bwahaha:

btw here's what i'm using right now.

i'd say the m50 still sounds better but the crossfade lp2 sound great and build quality is much better. for the $150 price range this has the best build quality, sound i'd say it's on the top 3.

what makes them expensive is hype from their PR machine.

I dunno about you but I wouldn't trade the M50 for any other headphone ^^

It's like the bar setter in the price segment
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

Kung talagang audiphile anak mo... get this Sennheiser Worldwide - HD 800

sennheiser HD 800.. it would cost probobly 200k+
but counted as the best "Studio" headphones in existance....

Philips nga lang, masaya na ako ...

Friend owns one, 21k bili niya. Tested it, ok naman. But it's not worth the price. Pang-show off lang. And just like any other items trending, malalaos din yan. So that's like goodbye 21k for you bro kapag nagsawa anak mo at nagpabili naman ng iba.

May fake dito, Class A. 3500 yata yung ganyan. Kopyang kopya ang itsura, yung tunog ... normal. Kung looks habol niya, ok na yun. Mas mura yung headset lang ( like SG's ) mga 700-900 Class A. Yun din, kopya itsura, yung tunog ... normal. Pero kung talang "in" sa sounds anak mo bro at makilatis tungkol sa SQ, baka hindi rin niya maenjoy yung beats after quite a while..

My OEM / Class A Studio Beats sounds great naman.
Parang it's an overstatement to say that an a4tech ordinary headphones sounds better than this - way overboard.

I've been using mine for almost 6 months already and kinda contented with it. I'm not an audiophile nor I test cans with charts and all but IMHO they are OK with their price - P3500 for an OEM. Kinda stylish too

And yes, they are freaking expensive for 20 grand.

    Peace.

Sabi na sa'yo eh, okay ang bose. Sulit siya. Not overpriced IMO. Mahal sa mahal pero ramdam mo na worth it.
