Ok, so here's what happened. It was raining really hard early this evening and a really strong lightning struck.the damage:
1. Wifi router
2. Wimax modem
3. Panasonic LED tv
4. Media player
5. Soundbar
6. CDR king servo AVR
7. Digital control panel of washing machine is messed up
Unfortunately, 1-3 are completely dead. My dad was watching TV when the lightning struck. 4 & 5 still turns on but couldn't connect/no output. Other TVs at home were spared.
All of those, except the washing machine, were connected to surge protector and servo motor avr. 1&2 were connected together, 3&6, 4&5, and washing machine on its own.
Any advice on what i should do now?

Manila area sir. Im not 100% sure if properly grounded lahat. How would i know?
From what i've researched last night, possible na may fuse daw sa loob ng tv. So hopefully fuse lang.
As for the soundbar and media player, possible na hdmi ports naman.

May 3rd, 2014 11:44 PM #7Lightning came into your house thru the power mains. Report the incident to Meralco at once, let them check distribution for stolen grounding rods/ wires in your area.
As for the appliances, damage will depend on how the electronics were designed to absorb surges. Commonly, power supplies are protected with Varistor that clips overvoltages, but like AVR's and UPS's they are ineffective for lightning without proper earth ground. Static could discharge from elctronic device to the humid air and that fries the sensitive electronics.
To quickly check the earth ground inside your distribution panel, you should be able to measure L-G-N (110-0-110) Line-Ground-Neutral AC Volts, this is for Metro Manila with balanced transmission.

ehehehe ..... cdr-king talaga.

Big headache ba pag power supply ang nasira?
Will report to meralco. Thanks for the tip. Will also ask our electrician to check earth ground.
That's why yun kinuha ko.
Nagtanong tanong ako sa neighborhood namin, may isang PC rental store just few hundred meters away from our house, nakuryente pa daw yung ibang naglalaro when the lightning struck.

May 5th, 2014 12:21 AM #10AVR with servos are slow acting. it takes seconds before the wiper move between the coil. Surges happens in milliseconds.
Still the best protection for overvoltages are MOV(MEtal Oxide Varistors) they clamp at nanoseconds speed. Couple that with gas-discharge fuse and it will clamp more current. Most UPS have this built in that is why they are recommended for electronic appliances than AVRs. Online UPS are the best protection u could get, inverters are ON all the time voltage gets conditioned all the time.
planning to keep it for 15yrs just done 10,000 km already replaced the transfer case fluid w/...
