Tanong lang po, how long can you leave an air conditioner(window, split type, free standing, ceiling) running?

Getting mixed figures kasi: sabi nung contractor maximum 2 days lang pwede paandarin yung isang 2hp split type AC namin. Pero ang alam ko naman sa ospital yung ordinary window type AC halos 24 hours, 7 days a week pinapaandar, no problems.

While we're on the subject, how about industrial fans(3D, Hanabishi) and blowers? Personally na try ko na 3 days straight, and #2 speed.

hmm.... not sure on the exact no. of days or hours sir parang wala naman nakasulat na ganon sa manual. cympre mas mabilis ang wear and tear kung naka on palagi aircon or fan kaya nga sa centralized aircon sa hospital alternate ung compressor nila para hindi babad.

Any equipment has a rated MTBF, whether published or not. Obviously, the more time the equipment is running, the more wear and tear can occur.

Bigger, industrial units will usually have higher MTBF ratings compared to residential-type units, so it is important to size up your cooling requirements properly. If the A/C is too small, the compressor will be running at 100% duty cycle... not good for your electricity bill or the compressor itself.

Wear can also happen whether or not the unit is running. Take for instance the evap and condenser coils, among others. Corrosion can happen by just merely being exposed to moisture and the environment.

I think ang issue dyan is more of does the capacity of the AC or blower / fan, match up well with the requirement ng room or ng application..

in case of AC... kung naka 1/4HP ka... then malaki room... bukod sa mataas ang kuryente mo dahil sa laging full on ang compressor... sa liit din nito.. magkaka problem ka din.. pero kung overspec ang AC mo.. then di lagi nakabukas ang compressor... so kuryente di gaano kataasan... regular wear and tear lang ang mangyayari..

sa blowers and fans... capacity din ang pinag uusapan... air flow required vs air flow given by the fan (motor and fan design)... best is kung redundant din ang system...

hindi naman capacity ang tinatanong ni sir TS. kung pwede bang i-on ng matagal ung mga airconditioning equipment and fan blowers.

feeling ko naman oversized yung AC namin for the room it's cooling. So technically it can run indefinitely til the parts wear out?

set mo rin ung thermostat sir baka naka 16 or 17C ang setting eh aander ung compressor mo nyan palagi. yan usually nakakalimutan.

i agree sir... pero yung wear and tear sa paggamit 24/7 can be affected by capacity and/or sizing... gaya din ng banggit ni oj88 sa itaas...

Use 12hr timer to automatically switch between units.

Drum-type fans of industrial fans are superior than sleeve-type bearings of small units, and usually lasts with the AC unit life.

Compressor life will depend on runtime that can be predicted on what you are cooling, so proper ratio, volume, and heat absorption is a thing to consider. Ask your HVAC contractor about this, they usually have a chart for your requirement.

We usually run 3 5 tonner ACU in a data equipment and longetivity always depends on maintenance (monitoring of charge, lubrication, drier, current, filter, cleaning). Compressor gets busted usually after 4-5years of 12hrs operation set at 18'c. The usual that gets busted are window-types and the ones cooling RF units that produce lots of moisture and heat. Also those with very long plumbing from outdoor units are pain to maintain.
