They're not that that cheap. But, they're not that expensive either. When it comes to doing multi-gigabyte transfers, that's the best/quickest way for me. Plus, I feel my data is more secure having it in an external hard drive.
Make sure it's at least usb2, not usb1. Usb1 is still pretty slow. If you buy a 2.5" hard drive and a usb2 enclosure, it should cost somewhere between $100 and $150. That was back in 2005 for a 60gb external hard drive. They should be cheaper now.
The plus with using a 2.5" hard drive/usb2 enclosure is that the power for the hard drive is through the usb1/usb2 port plus it's smaller and lighter than a 3.5" external hard drive.
I already have a pic of my two external hard drives in another thread. But, again....
Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
