May 29th, 2003 06:05 PM #1What parts do you need to prepare your engine if you want to place a turbocharger? Bec. my friend told me that if you want to place a turbo you need to replace some parts to cope up with the pressure. D

as far as i know, it really depends on the boost. i think you can still run on the stock parts as long as you keep the boost low. If i remember correctly if you boost the turbo in the 7-10psi range, you have to change the piston rings and some other stuff.
I'm no turbo expert though.
i think you'll get more replies if you post this in the car-talk forum.

i think you would also have to upgrade your exhaust pipes to a larger diameter

it all depends talaga on your planned boost output. like what kevin said 7-10psi is still a safe boost range if you're not planning to change internals. as you go higher, daming papalitan dyan like yun nga, piston rings, forged pistons, con rods, stronger valve springs, larger pipes, special head gaskets to lower compression, and most importantly-- stronger brakes
