well put sir aksdman.
btw, i could help but notice your number of posts :D hope you can share more of your inputs in our little forum

Congratulations to the german, but can anyone argue who is faster now?
Kimi every time, more talent than anyone deserves!
I knew you will pop out! brg998uk...
congrats to kimi, well deserved win. Kimi is definitely the fastest in this race, no contest to that but.................
who is the 2004 driver of the year?
being the winner for one race is not enough.
being the fastest is not enough.
Kimi's time will come...dont rush it, they have enough it on the track.

I was just being patient!
If the bloody wing had not fallen off in Germany i would have popped out then!
Expect to see me after Monza as i predict another Kimi quick/Kimi win race.........
Did anyone note that even MS is getting fed up of his "fans" comments?
After qualifying one commentator said "What a fantastic lap!"
To which MS replied "It was not that fantastic".
If only there was more racing like yesterday i honestly would not care who won, it would be just too enjoyable to describe anyone as a loser.
If only there were more real racing tracks like Spa, if F1 really wants to put on entertainment, scrap boring parade circuits like Hungary and sod the celebrities and drop Monaco.
Then they could have two more Asian tracks so i could go see more races
if we theoretically took michael shumacher out, and all race results were as they were, rubens would be at 110 points, button at 82 points, trulli at 55 points and alonso at 58 points. this is taking into account that they all move up one place when michael is out of the picture.
i am willing to bet in this scenarion that rubens will win the driver's championship.
with this analysis, i think the ferrari team provides schumacher the ability to win, but michaels talent converts this ability into dominance.
rubens will probably win but will not dominate like schumi
The "package" is a joke. It is just money. Toyota will probably surprise everyone next year and their success will be down to money.
Yes there are drivers who can pull the package into place and MS certainly did that at Ferrari.
But personally i thought he did a much better job at Benetton, which took real driver skill and a he got a well deserved title at the expense of several superb drivers. (Or perhaps it was the lucky number 5? MS, Hill and Mansel all did well with a car numbered 5!!)
You could tell he (MS) was really driving the car to and beyond its limits, he never just sat there and nursed it.
Kimi seems to be the same in this respect, Hero or Zero, win or nothing.
Look at Coulthard, on paper the guy is a brilliant race winner, in reallity he is a Sunday driver.
Williams had a real package in the 90's, regardless of driver they won more than most. Did this make for more exciting racing?
Actually i thought it was excellent entertainment but i failed to get excited over any particular driver, there were so many "equal" drivers i loved them all.
Personally i could not care less about the package, i want to watch a driver. Better yet, when the package is right i want to watch 2 drivers on the same team fight for position. Or drivers from several teams with a good package. Not just one driver.....
If Masa gets his act together, Button settles down and Davidson gets a drive, there will be 3 drivers who will challenge Kimi long after MS retires.
If the new regulations do anything to demand driver skill Kimi is still going to be the driver to beat.
Kimi may have had an unreliable car this year, he may only have a reliable car for half the races next year, but the fact will be that when the car is reliable, and several cars are equal in performance so there is a real race then i still say Kimi has the most natural talent, possibly the most this sport will ever see, time will tell and it will not be measured by number of titles but by epic individual races.
AND these are the ONLY races worth watching, scrap the parades.
that's the reality of the world we live in, it is ALL about the money. no question about it. without the corporate sponsorships, most, if not all, sports will shut down.
i can't call myself an expert in Formula 1, more of just a spectator really, but there is no denying that the only "quantifiable" way to determine good and great drivers will be by the number of races they win. maybe there is another way?

hehe...isn't this a bit much?
here we are in the middle of one of the most dominating sports performances of all time (comparable to Tiger Woods a few years ago or the 72-10 Chicago Bulls), and you're talking about one race (out of two) that he didn't manage to win?
that's like me talking trash about the Lakers winning game 2 but getting utterly whipped the other 4 games and losing 4-1...

i agree with you. as long as the wins are accomplished within the rules, then they are the only stats that matter, imo.
after all, the whole point of running the race is for someone to win, right? we don't have prizes for 'best driver not named schumacher' or 'best team that spends less than $1 billion on R&D'
the best analogy here is in US sports - you have baseball, where an owner can spend a ton of money and 'buy' a championship (like the Yankees). if you want parity, change the game - institute a hard spending cap like the NFL and see who wins. or give everyone the same car (like manufacturer's cup racing) and see who comes out on top.
yup, but what i love most about sports is, even though it is all about the money, it is because of money (or the lack thereof) that the best stories are found.
take a look at the texas rangers. they traded the games most expensive player (Alex Rodriquez, to the yankees of course), and from being perpetual cellar dwellers, the are now in the hunt for a playoffs spot.
then you have the original florida marlins expansion team that won their first world series, yun ang cool

i agree with you on this.
btw, doesn't the 7-Time World Championship mean nothing just so Kimi won one race?
I guess you guys are all in the 20-25 age range?
If so, you would not remember when a young MS won a race against a field that included a few world champions and people instantly began talking about the end of Williams Renault or Senna dominance?
There is no denying Ferrari reliability.
The important fact is that finally a Merc engine held together and the one driver that has enough raw skill to use it, did.
No it is not too much, i am not going to run naked along Edsa but i will bet that anytime Kimi has a reliable car he will beat Shumacher in a head to head. Either of them.
It's the dawn of a new era, and i for one hope that Kimi does not dominate as i hope at least 3 or 4 other drivers will be pushing him every race.
I am very lucky, i have met many drivers including Kimi who has something the others do or did not have. You can sense a absolute single minded purpose that is almost scary.....hopefully he will wait a few years before he has children and does a Mika
ahh yes... the end of the Schumi-Ferrari tandem / era... in a few years, yes... Schumi is already showing his age...
beat Schumi in a head to head? maybe. but that is formula1 racing. you've got the pits, the team strategy, the other cars, accidents and everything in between. remember the British GP? on how Schumi was able to snatch that victory from Kimi?
yes, Kimi may beat Schumi in a head to head. but all things considered, Schumi is still at the top of his class.
btw, is Kimi just showing some flash of the pan driving? IMO, Trulli is a more consistent driver than Kimi.
I guess you missed a few recent races.
The only consistency Trulli has shown is being overtaken while apparently sleeping.
First time i have heard anyone suggest Kimi will be a flash in the pan! Most people recognise pure natural skill when they see it.
1.5 seconds faster than Shumacher in a few corners? Ever see anyone do that before? Don't even think about trying to say Shumacher slowed because even tv cover shows that was not the case. Even Rubens would have passed him if he had slowed.
