McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button have each been hit with a 25-place grid penalty for Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, even though there are only 20 cars in the race.

On Friday Alonso – who is still looking for his first points of the season – was given a 20-place penalty after McLaren changed his engine. That was increased to 25 places because he changed his gearbox after coming to a halt during Saturday morning’s practice run.

McLaren also learned before Saturday’s qualifying session that Button would be demoted 25 places for having a power unit change ahead of Sunday’s race. He was dropped 15 places in the last race in Canada because of repairs that had to be done following a failure in practice. It is impossible to be demoted further back than 20th on the grid, so Button and Alonso will also be hit by time penalties during the race.

^^^ SV is only 27 years old, has 4 WDC and is in a competitive Ferrari car.
While FA is already 33 years old, has only 2 WDC and is in a (currently) crap McLaren-Honda car....

    Asar nga naman.....

F1 Driver dies due to a racing incident since Ayrton Senna was killed in 1994.

Nine months after crashing into a tractor during the Japanese GP, Jules Bianch has passed away.

The family of Jules Bianchi has released a statement, confirming the tragic passing of the 25-year-old Frenchman.

"It is with deep sadness that the parents of Jules Bianchi, Philippe and Christine, his brother Tom and sister Mélanie, wish to make it known that Jules passed away last night at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) in Nice, (France) where he was admitted following the accident of 5th October 2014 at Suzuka Circuit during the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix.

“Jules fought right to the very end, as he always did, but today his battle came to an end,” said the Bianchi family. “The pain we feel is immense and indescribable. We wish to thank the medical staff at Nice’s CHU who looked after him with love and dedication. We also thank the staff of the General Medical Center in the Mie Prefecture (Japan) who looked after Jules immediately after the accident, as well as all the other doctors who have been involved with his care over the past months.

“Furthermore, we thank Jules’ colleagues, friends, fans and everyone who has demonstrated their affection for him over these past months, which gave us great strength and helped us deal with such difficult times. Listening to and reading the many messages made us realise just how much Jules had touched the hearts and minds of so many people all over the world.

“We would like to ask that our privacy is respected during this difficult time, while we try to come to terms with the loss of Jules.”

On October 5th, 2014, Bianchi spun off track in wet conditions during the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. He struck a tractor crane that was retrieving the stricken Sauber of Adrian Sutil. In the impact, the left side air-intake was shaved completely off and the entire rear of the car was decimated.

Bianchi's head made contact with the back of the machine and he suffered a diffuse axonal injury - a very serious type of traumatic brain injury. Bianchi has since been in a comatose state, hospitalized since the day of his accident.

Motorsport.com extends our deepest condolences to the entire Formula 1 community, especially the family and friends of Jules.
