sir yun ba yun may sticker sa na off road sa likod ang nakita mo?Originally Posted by wreckless
kung VW Beetle yun, may advantage ang beetle sa baha. dahil sa nasa likod yung engine nya, nahahawi muna yung tubig before it hits the engine kaya less chance for any shortcircuits or mabasa yung distributor. tapos, mataas din yung level ng air intake, it's about as high as the chest of the driver. kung lifted pa yung rear suspension at malaki gulong nya, additional advantage talga yun. Nung buhay pa yung VW Beetle ko, malakas din ang loob ko na sumugod sa baha, never akong tinirik non. Kaya ang tawag minsan sa VW beetle, "pagong". :D
originally, VW beetles are offroad vehicles ng mga germans nung gyera. hinaharabas nila sa sahara desert yan nung inoccupy nila africa during ww2. reasons can be because, air-cooled engine sya and kagaya ng sabi ng previous post, nahahawi na muna ang tubig before it reaches the engine compartment
had owned a vw 1302s '72 before, tapos dinadala ko yun sa school (UST - Circa late 80s) habang bumabagyo. naisusugod ko yun sa espana without stalling.
ganda pa ng maintenance. just change oil and off it goes...
A VW Meyers Manx buggy won the first Baja 1000 off-road race in 1967.
anything is possible with a beetle

But Adolf preferred riding the Jeep mb
The Kubelwagen's (and its descendants like the Type 181 and the Sakbayan) approach to off-roading is different from the Jeep's:
- Light weight backbone frame instead of a ladder frame.
- Two-wheel drive instead of 4-wheel drive.
- High ground clearance achieved by the use of gear-reduction hubs.
Ground clearance of the original Sakbayan = 9.2 inches (234 mm)
Note that the later Sakbayans did not have gear-reduction hubs so their ground clearance is lower.
