Driver de-brief Nico admitted that he purposely didn't back down.

BS. He never had a shot at making that stick, but he kept his nose in, anyway? For what purpose? To piss off his team-mate and half-the-team?

He shouldn't be surprised if they start using team orders specifically on him and not Lewis, because he's just proven he doesn't know squat about going wheel to wheel with his team-mate... something guys like Lewis and Button can do all race long without problems.

    Wolf's interpretation....

However, Wolff said Rosberg's remarks had been misinterpreted.

Wolff said: "Nico felt he needed to hold his line. He needed to make a point and for Lewis it was clearly not him who needed to be aware of Nico.

"(Rosberg) didn't give in. He thought it was for Lewis to leave him space and that Lewis didn't leave him space.

"So they agreed to disagree in a very heated discussion among ourselves, but it wasn't deliberately crashing. That is nonsense.

"It was deliberately taking into account that if Lewis moves or would open then it could end up in a crash."

And lewis never did anything to piss off nico.

Remember Bahrain when lewis swiped across nico and almost crashed? Lewis was in the wrong but nico prevented the crash.

Now Nico's out and proved a point. F*** your defensive tactics cry baby.

Merc's handling of this incident is pathetic.

The team ordered Hamilton to let Rosberg by during this race, an order the defiant World Champion refused to comply with. If he had let his teammate by, Rosberg could have potentially challenged Ricciardo for the win later in the race.

The two then found themselves battling for the final spot on the podium with the checkered flag in sight. Hamilton pushed Rosberg wide and off the track, which allowed him to maintain the position as the championship leader was forced to settle for fourth.

Going back to Hungary, if Hamilton wasn't going to back down for Rosberg, then Rosberg decided he wasn't going to back down for him.

Or perhaps he just wanted to send the message that you will not take this World Championship from me, and that I'll do absolutely anything to keep it from you.

Regardless of his precise reasoning, the bottom line is that he did it because he felt wronged by Hamilton and wanted retribution.

So what is going to happen then? Will he even be punished? If any major punishment befalls Rosberg, I predict that it will come from his own teammate. The drivers will settle this amongst themselves and it could very well turn ugly.

Where do we go from here?

This team rivalry has been steadily escalating throughout the season, and it remains to be seen if it reaches the anticipated level of implosion before a World Champion is crowned.

All I know is that if they continue down this path, they are going to throw their spectacular season out the window and maybe even lose the title to that superstar over at Red Bull....and no, I'm not talking about Sebastian Vettel.

This deal could go in a countless number of directions honestly. Some have happy endings, others have very bad conclusions. Rosberg didn't open Pandora's box here, he busted it open with a crowbar and there's no closing it now. This rivalry has been taken to a whole other level.

Seven races, seven chances for it to all go wrong.

Fernando tasted Lewis' insubordination and brought Mclaren crashing down, the team becoming the laughing stock of 2007...

Hope Ricciardo wins the WC instead...:D

They should pay him $1m for every 2/10ths faster he is over his team-mate in qualifying.

At the end of the season, they'll still be paying him $60m or so...

RE: Rosberg v. Hamilton. Doesn't matter how much of an asshole Lewis is if everything he does is allowed by the rules. It's recklessly aggressive to box out on corner exit... but the rules allow it, which is why Lewis didn't even get a warning when he did it several times earlier this season in one race.

If Nico "causes a collision" by coming from the outside on corner exit again, he will definitely get a penalty.

He was lucky he didn't this time... but I wager the reason they didn't penalize him is because he tried to pull out of that move at last minute.

If it's only the rules, then nico nor lewis was at fault since no penalties were given... In Belgium or Bahrain.

First to act, first to fold. A cry baby indeed.

No penalties were given because it was marginal. Nico pulled out of the move, then they collided.

But it sets a precedent... like the time he *whoops* went off the track, kept his foot on the gas and came out with an extra second's worth of gap. You can probably get away with it once, but the next time he does either, he WILL be penalized.

Lewis is a dick, but after 2008 where he even got penalties for rules that hadn't been invented yet he's learned to stay within the letter of the law.

Not according to Mercedes... hence the forced apology by Nico.

Doesn't matter... the question now is whether Nico can beat Hamilton without losing any more fans in the process. Personally, I can forgive Monaco, because that was obviously a mistake. This one... while obviously also a mere mistake... is a sign that Nico is stooping to Hamilton-levels of dickishness to win. That's disheartening. If the only way for Nico to beat Hamilton is to become just as much of a jerk, I'd rather see Ricciardo win the title.

    True enough.

Riccardo should win it if the mercs don't get their act together.

Nico was forced to apologize just because they crashed... Nico prevented the one in Bahrain.

'Vettel to be announced by Ferrari today for 2015' - F1Today.net Formula 1 news

    Published on 16 Sep 2014 10:54

According to reports from Italy, Sebastian Vettel will be announced later today by Ferrari as one of their drivers for 2015. The four time world champion is looking for his options for next year, and already has said in the past he would love to drive for the Italian team.

As an extension of the rumours, Alonso would make the switch to Red Bull Racing, so in fact Vettel and Alonso would swap seats. Alonso is unhappy by the lack of success at Ferrari, while Vettel is being overclassed this year by his new team mate Daniel Ricciardo.

Keep watching our website, we will update you as the news is there!
