This is the reason why Chris Rado holds the time attack record title for the Fastest Lap in a Front-Wheel-Drive (Unlimited Class), with a time of 1:27.30, performed at Willow Springs International Motorsports Park.

Yup.
Sound reasoning behind it. Have the spoiler as high as possible, to get the most possible downforce out of it, and to keep it out of dirty air... and to keep it from creating turbulence over the rest of the body.

alas, much as we might want to rely on our noses, we may not use our noses to do emissions...
