I'm not really a fan of buying 'base model' Porsches. But what the heck, its still a Porsche.
Although with that kind of money, I will just spend it other stuff rather than on a single vehicle.

yeah i dont like the weak 220hp in line 6... the lowest model worth buying imo is the S version
I still like the 911 or boxster than the Cayenne..Plus I dont like the steering wheel... and Id rather use the money in other important things...:D
Inline 6? I know the S variant has V6 engine, which motioncars failed to notice and placed V8 on its specs.
no personal experience, but if they're using the 6 cyl boxster engine then that sounds like it might be underpowered (i.e. ok power for getting around town but if you're expecting "porsche performance" you might be disappointed)
it's funny - i was just talking to a colleague of mine who manages our offices in arizona. he was going to buy the base cayenne but ended up getting the VW Touareg. according to him it's pretty much the same car in terms of features and performance, but much less expensive.
same comment as m54...many people also commented about it being underpowered.
The base Cayenne has a 6-cylinder engine borrowed from VW. I am quite sure that it's a V6 and not a straight-6 (normally, only BMW and Toyota use that layout).
The Cayenne is not that great off-road, and on-road, the V6 model can be outran by a BMW X5 3.0i, and the 3.0d will have much better economy but not very much slower. There is also a VW Touareg with a V10 diesel. I'm not sure if it's on sale here, but this is worth considering too. Volvo XC90 is also worth a look, but stay clear of T6.
i also think that for 5.2M there are a lot of other choices besides the cayenne.
Upscale SUV for 5 million? BMW X5 3.0d... same power, same performance, better looks.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Hehehe. If I had that money i'd rather invest it in a house. But I wouldnt mind having the underpowered Cayenne at all....
a Cayenne is a Cayenne.
99.9% of our population can't even distinguish a base Cayenne from a Cayenne Turbo or even an S.
it accelerates to 100kph in 9.1 secs and has a topspeed of 214kph. i think that is more than enough oomph to pass most of the traffic here in the Philippines (though you can call it underpowered in the German Autobahn).
even if the engine was sourced from the VW VR6 (220hp), Porsche was able to massage it up to 250hp.
for bragging rights, the Cayenne is your ticket. but for a little practicality - i'd go for the BMW X5 3.0d
although, this thread will never actually reside in my real world, sabihin na lang natin that someone gave each of us P5 million and we had to spend it on a single SUV. as in, if we do not do it, we don't get the cash anyway
hmmmmmm. I think i would import a diesel Excursion. if you want a head-turner, this would beat the cayenne any dayhow many excursions are there in the Philipines? siguro less than ten?
tapos pagipunan mo ng 6 inch lift tapos 38 inch tires. ayos
i also read in a magazine yesterday that diesel drag racing is taking off in the states. some pickups are doing 11 seconds in the quarter mile with over 500 hp and 700 lb ft of torque. wild!!!!!

220+ MPH pickup truck
Maybe a dozen or so... but if you want proof of your wealth and disregard of practicality and fuel prices, what about an Escalade? 345 hp, comes in around 5 million. My uncle has one, and it came with dual aftermarket chrome tips and 20" chromes... veeeeery nice. Bonus is, Chevrolet can service it, as the underpinnings are the same as the Chevy Tahoe (same way that you can service the Lincoln Navigator at Ford).Originally posted by luckytruck

At 5 million, you can also get an 'import' Nissan Armada... 300 hp, same SIZE as the Excursion, but not very heavy... 7 seconds to 60 (as opposed to the underpowered V6 Cayenne), or for a less money, an Infiniti FX35, a beautiful car that reflects what the Cayenne should have looked like in an ideal world.
The FX35 is also a 7 second vehicle (The FX45 is quicker, but only offers 30+ hp more for a lot more money) It has the same engine as the Nissan 350Z, so servicing should not be gut-wrenching difficult, and the 'import' price should come to just over 3.5 million.
Actually, US diesels start at 215 hp and go up to 300 hp stock. The reason we will never see these is these dinosaurs are over 7 liters in displacement, and drink gas like crazy.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
It's still a Porsche but the car looks like a bloated 911. It's like taking Amanda Griffin and tripling her weight. That's what Cayenne looks like, a Amanda Griffind weighing 300-400lbs.
The Cayenne of Enrique Zobel's son was fired on in Makati during his funeral.
Also take note if your friend's dad considers getting grey market import PGA (the sole distributor & dealer of Porsche in the country) may not service it. This may not have been much of a deal a decade ago but because of the electronics & computers in high end european cars you may have problems getting proper servicing.
If you want a proper SUV that say's you got $$$ and yet not make you look like a black rapper check out the Range Rover.

I second the motion on the Range Rover. Kasya ba ang P5.2 million?

Kung grey market import yes but through the Makati dealer medyo malabo. US MSRP comes out at 4M.
