Not really. They would not invest here if the government is not soing something right. Additionally, the economic situation is not based solely on foreign investments.

nope. "weeding" out corruption is one thing. reducing bureaucracy is another matter.

Philippines Economy: Population, GDP, Inflation, Business, Trade, FDI, Corruption

uls et al discussed it in the previous SONA thread

are you in or out of the country? so what if they discussed it before? we're making strides both as to weeding out corruption and economically. only those who are blind (with all due respect to them) or those playing blind who wouldn't see it. sige lang tag yakyak.

What I'm pointing out is that the economic progress is largely because of the trend in developing countries as a whole even before Pnoy stepped into office. We're merely riding the momentum. What was discussed before still applies.

Government policy is a major factor in economic progress. Saying that we are just riding the momentum is pure BS.

I agree. In the industries my family and i are in, there have definitely been a lot of tangible changes for the better. It is about time we all should work together instead of criticizing without giving better and workable alternatives. Traffic nga and one of the reasons is more cars on the road. That's better than maluwag nga daan la na kasi makaafford ng sasakyan. That doesn't discount the shortcomings of the govt sa traffic management or infrastructure pero glass half-empty/half-full lang yan. Lahat naman gusto mag.improve pilipinas then i guess it is high time we all work together for the country's, and ultimately our own, benefit.

The SONA was just saying we did fairly well the past 5 years and i think it was truthful. It did admit that there's still plenty of work to do. The important thing is, those tasked (to do) are up to the challenge and somehow walang kurap... I noticed how a cabinet secretary's face lights up when his/her effort is appreciated...and practically everyone was mentioned and thanked except for the VP [emoji12]

yup Pnoy did that to VP deliberately. VP was supposedly make his own SONA right after Pnoy's speech but literally he lost his appetite already

In fairness Pnoy's SONA was good but not great. He failed to mentioned what's the gov't achievements & plans for OFW, yolanda victim etc.. instead he rather mentioned his gratitude to the hair dresser, yaya etc.. Why can't he tell them privately? Kailangan pa bang ipaalam sa universe yan? ano naman ang contribution nila sa bansa eh boss ni pnoy sila

Was about to post this. I agree with you 100%. If people spent even just half of the time they're complaining towards being the change they wanna see in this world, maybe we'll see more progress.

Since when did a president here and abroad mentioned their shortcomings during a SONA? It's always been their "accomplishment" real or otherwise.

Yesterday's SONA was truthful, it's just the beginning, Sinabi na man niya eh. everybody know 6 years is a very short time to accomplish everything a president would've wanted.

As for the nth time of "blaming" the last administration. I think it's more of a comparative figures. Parang matrix Lang yan.

If you want to show any progress thru numbers you have to show some figures you started with and figures now and eventually the projection. Simple as that.

Easy to nitpick. Give me one president that delivered a perfect SONA. That not single person found it "incomplete, self-serving". Sige nga.

You said it well bro... yep benchmarking is the key word here.
Trust that the next president will pick up from the point where he'll be leaving... at dapat gawing parang results driven ang pagpapatakbo ng bansa gaya ng isang company na may healthy competition sa loob for a more successful operation.
