TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – What tension? As far as Tacloban City Administrator Tecson Lim is concerned, the local and national governments have a "very good working relationship," he told media on Tuesday, November 19.

Lim was reacting to a report in the Philippine Daily Inquirer that said Interior and Local Secretary Mar Roxas asked Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez to write President Benigno Aquino III a letter "to inform him that he can no longer function as mayor and he is surrendering authority to [Roxas]."

The newspaper was quoting Alex Avisado, who is supposedly Romualdez's lawyer.

"There is no inkling na talagang gusto niya, or nag-express na gusto niyang matanggal si mayor," he said. (There is no inkling nor did he express it in any way that he wants Mayor Romualdez out.).....

And that was proven by the experience of some of the small islands and municipalities where they enforced evacuation to high ground.

If a forecaster and a meteorologist died, that does not justify the mayor's action or lack of it. Primarily because other towns have shown what proper leadership, planning and hardline approach to evacuation does. Kakatapos lang nang katrina. Sariwa pa sa isipan dapat pero i strongly believe binaliwala talaga nang bopols na mayor. May storm surge na nga pa-beach beach pa. Stupid.

mar - ride the f*ck*d up situation of the mayor when he imply that the mayor is "romualdes and the president is an aquino"

i am no fan of aquino and i do believe that the president did his best in this situation, but WTF mar is implying? before he help he needs papers? dapat hindi siya ng gov official dapat junkshop siya nagwork para kilo kilong papel makuha niya.

Sir I agree that there are a lot of red tape, oops sorry i mean bureaucratic stuff in the government. however, i do not agree that the DILG cannot act on some aspect as far as the relief effort is concerned because of this bureaucratic requirement.

there are a lot of stuff that they can do that does not require this piece of crap, but instead he used that ruling to defer (please correct me if i am wrong) all of the efforts to aid the people in the Yolanda Tragedy.

Hope i had my facts right this is just my brief understanding of what i have read in the news, in this forum and other info as well from other individuals.

Mar mentioned this, out of 171 towns, Tacloban lang grabe reklamo. Papano kaya yung 170 towns, ano kaya ginagawa at bakit hindi naman ganyan reklamo. Ang mind you, hindi din lang naman Tacloban ang halos total wipe-out eh. Yung isang isla nga diba buong-buo nilamon.

Politically fuelled talag banat na ito, pero sad part is it's a normal thing.

At 24Oras last night, ....saw these 169 units of GMA7 Kapuso Foundation houses intended for Yolanda victims, ready for turn-over. Made of concrete yung units at malaki floor area nya.

Ang layo ng quality dun sa housing na provided by the govt, despite the billions of money that came from intl donations.
