how can we also prove that there is wind ? to see is to believe ika nga...
believing in God in one thing... but following God is another thing, remember even satan worshipped God and he can still go against God.
just my thought... peace !!
Wind = you do feel it dont you? Same as God, you feel he/she is around you/us.
To see is to believe? Do you believe that you have a brain? Or do you need to see it before you believe? I bet you believed that you do have a brain indeed, even before you see it. Or, have you seen it yet?
Even I, have questions about God's existance. But this stamement, "To see is to believe" is just not a valid arguement.IMHO

kiper, wag kang maniwala dun. Ask him/her if there's a scientific proof about his/her claim. Afterall, Psychologist are people who just dont have any other thing to do in their life but to study somebody else's life. Then, they gave themselves a real nice title, PSYCHOLOGIST. (okay, that was a joke, you can laugh now...hehe)
Tell you prof. this:
Gates was interviewed November 1995 on PBS by David Frost. Below is the transcript with minor edits.
Frost: Do you believe in the Sermon on the Mount?
Gates: I don't. I'm not somebody who goes to church on a regular basis. The specific elements of Christianity are not something I'm a huge believer in. There's a lot of merit in the moral aspects of religion. I think it can have a very very positive impact.
Frost: I sometimes say to people, do you believe there is a god, or do you know there is a god? And, you'd say you don't know?
Gates: In terms of doing things I take a fairly scientific approach to why things happen and how they happen. I don't know if there's a god or not, but I think religious principles are quite valid.
--RKGates was profiled in a January 13, 1996 TIME magazine cover story. Here are some excerpts compiled by the Drudge Report:
"Isn't there something special, perhaps even divine, about the human soul?" interviewer Walter Isaacson asks Gates "His face suddenly becomes expressionless," writes Isaacson, "his squeaky voice turns toneless, and he folds his arms across his belly and vigorously rocks back and forth in a mannerism that has become so mimicked at MICROSOFT that a meeting there can resemble a round table of ecstatic rabbis."
"I don't have any evidence on that," answers Gates. "I don't have any evidence of that."
He later states, "Just in terms of allocation of time resources, religion is not very efficient. There's a lot more I could be doing on a Sunday morning."

you do good..
for urself..for ur parents..for ur gf/bf..siblings..etc..
diba ganun naman?
if ur a teacher..for ur students..
if ur a priest..for ur followers..
if ur a gov't official..for ur people..

kiper, if you're an atheist (and assuming that you're correct, there is no God, there is no life after death and our souls disappear into nothingness after we die), why do anything good at all? Why help the poor? Why love your family or friends? Why be kind to others? We'll all have the same fate after we die anyway (both good and bad people).
If I we're an atheist, I'd probably go on robbing people, raping women and cheating other people out of what's rightfully theirs since good and bad people will have the same fate (my conscience may bother me but just like my soul, it will disappear into nothingness when I die anyway).
But this is not the case. God-fearing (and practicing) Christian ako. :D I do good because I feel the need to proclaim the Good News to others. I do good not for my own sake but so that others may see Christ living in me. Personally, that would be the difference in my life if I didn't believe that God is alive.Last edited by kevinp; July 17th, 2003 at 11:15 AM.

July 17th, 2003 02:57 PM #60For those who believe in God, its hard to explain why there is Suffering.
For those who dont, they have to explain the existence of everything.
