bacteria develop antibiotic resistance
design?
bullsh*t
bacteria population strain XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

antibiotic effective only against strain X
kills strain X
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOZOOOOOOOOOOOO
strain O becomes dominant strain
strain Z is genetic mutation
switch to antibiotic effective against strain O
kills strain O

should i do this again?
that's why there are drug resistant bacteria

Viruses, Black Death, SARS, AIDs, Bubonic Plague...God's design to control the population. So don't take medicine because it's God's will for you to get sick and die, a cure is never mentioned in the all knowing Bible...=P

AGAIN
dark skin became dominant in places near the equator coz dark skin is a favorable trait (UV protection)
over time, natural selection filtered out disadvantageous genes (genes that cause light skin) from the gene pool
near the equator where there's lots of sunlight light skin is prone to skin cancer which shortens life (obviously a disadvantage). light skin is only advantageous in places far from the equator (for vitamin D production) that's why light skin became the dominant trait in humans that live far from the equator. it's freaking natural selection
during the slave trade, Africans were brought to the US
blacks in America are descendants of African slaves. blacks weren't evolved to live far from the equator
guess what vitamin deficiency blacks in America have
Your Health: Skin color matters in the vitamin D debate - USATODAY.com
Can dark skin be a health hazard? It might be — if you are a dark-skinned person who lives far from the equator, gets little sun exposure and consumes little vitamin D.
That describes many African Americans and helps explain why studies find that average African-American children and adults have much lower blood levels of the vitamin than white Americans do. Vitamin D is produced in response to sun exposure in a process that works most efficiently in pale skin. It's also in fortified dairy products and fatty fish, but few Americans — of any skin color — consume enough of those foods to meet recommendations.
somebody designed black people and put them near the equator?
somebody designed white people and put them far from the equator?
gimme a freaking break

there are people who have a mutation that makes them resistant to HIV -- CCR5-delta 32 gene variant
CCR5 is a co-receptor that HIV uses to attach to cells. without CCR5, HIV cannot attach
there are some people in the world who do not have CCR5 -- 10% of Europeans
people who inherited the mutation from both parents (homozygous) are completely immune to HIV
why is that mutation still present in some European populations? coz the mutation was passed on from their ancestors. it was advantageous. it gave them survival advantage. it protected them from other viral infections in the past
Biologists Discover Why 10 Percent Of Europeans Are Safe From HIV Infection
Biologists Discover Why 10 Percent Of Europeans Are Safe From HIV Infection
ScienceDaily (Apr. 3, 2005) — Biologists at the University of Liverpool have discovered how the plagues of the Middle Ages have made around 10% of Europeans resistant to HIV.
Scientists have known for some time that these individuals carry a genetic mutation (known as CCR5-delta 32) that prevents the virus from entering the cells of the immune system but have been unable to account for the high levels of the gene in Scandinavia and relatively low levels in areas bordering the Mediterranean.
They have also been puzzled by the fact that HIV emerged only recently and could not have played a role in raising the frequency of the mutation to the high levels found in some Europeans today.
Professor Christopher Duncan and Dr Susan Scott from the University’s School of Biological Sciences, whose research is published in the March edition of Journal of Medical Genetics, attribute the frequency of the CCR5-delta 32 mutation to its protection from another deadly viral disease, acting over a sustained period in bygone historic times.
Some scientists have suggested this disease could have been smallpox or even bubonic plague but bubonic plague is a bacterial disease rather than a virus and is not blocked by the CCR5-delta 32 mutation.
Professor Duncan commented: “The fact that the CCR5-delta 32 mutation is restricted to Europe suggests that the plagues of the Middle Ages played a big part in raising the frequency of the mutation. These plagues were also confined to Europe, persisted for more than 300 years and had a 100% case mortality.”
Around 1900, historians spread the idea that the plagues of Europe were not a directly infectious disease but were outbreaks of bubonic plague, overturning an accepted belief that had stood for 550 years. Professor Duncan and Dr Scott illustrated in their book, Return of the Black Death (2004, Wiley), that this idea was incorrect and the plagues of Europe (1347-1660) were in fact a continuing series of epidemics of a lethal, viral, haemorrhagic fever that used the CCR5 as an entry port into the immune system.
Using computer modeling, they demonstrated how this disease provided the selection pressure that forced up the frequency of the mutation from 1 in 20,000 at the time of the Black Death to values today of 1 in 10.
Lethal, viral haemorrhagic fevers were recorded in the Nile valley from 1500 BC and were followed by the plagues of Mesopotamia (700-450BC), the plague of Athens (430BC), the plague of Justinian (AD541-700) and the plagues of the early Islamic empire (AD627-744). These continuing epidemics slowly raised the frequency from the original single mutation to about 1 in 20,000 in the 14th century simply by conferring protection from an otherwise certain death.
Professor Duncan added: “Haemorrhagic plague did not disappear after the Great Plague of London in 1665-66 but continued in Sweden, Copenhagen, Russia, Poland and Hungary until 1800. This maintenance of haemorrhagic plague provided continuing selection pressure on the CCR5-delta 32 mutation and explains why it occurs today at its highest frequency in Scandinavia and Russia.”
so somebody "designed" some people to survive pandemics in the past
so somebody "designed" some people to become immune to HIV?
diba Christians believe AIDS is punishment from God?
so why did God give some people immunity?
coz they're really really good people?
no "design" happened
nothing intentional happened
it's random mutation
roll of the dice
if a mutation is favorable for survival it is passed on
if a mutation is unfavorable for survival it is gradually eliminated from the population
it's natural selection

September 14th, 2011 01:26 PM #279If they are non-believers in God, just let them be. We cannot argue them into believing. For them to change, they need to see the difference in our lives. That is why we say that Christianity is more "caught" than taught.
Unfortunately, most of those who do not believe in God are also the same people who do not have clear boundaries. For some, it is okay to kill. To some, it is okay to steal. To some, it is okay to take someone else's wife or husband (or boyfriend or girlfriend) and have ***, casually. There is no morale norm, there are no absolutes, there is no order. Everything is negotiable for as long as they can get away with it, and they're not caught. As it has been said, it is random, its about satisfaction, and it is ultimately about survival. There are no truths, only positions, perceptions, or points-of-view.
Let the Lord judge them accordingly based on their conscience. We can only pray for them and hope that they will find their way. As Jesus said, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
To answer the question, the main difference of life without God is that a society will be without values, and ultimately will run amok. The telltale signs are corruption, murders, lewdness, chaos, and destruction. In short, people will become a society of degenerates (without values) and nations will fast follow suit.
Proof?
Look at America today. If you read their history and look at who wrote their Constitution, their Bill of Rights, it was composed of mostly Christians (53 of 56 IIRC). The qualification of a leader then was that he must be God-fearing. In short, America's very foundations were built on Christian values.
But what happened to them? Why did such a great nation deteriorate into what it is today? Simply put, the people failed to pass on their faith in God, and thought that society, laws, and government (all external factors) were enough to take care of them. Little did they know that the more they put their trust in themselves and their institutions, and relied less on God, would they find themselves in direr straits generations later. Today, they're trying to outlaw everything that has to do with the mention of God, or prayer, in the name of "equality," or "not offending others" (being politically correct), while the Muslims are slowly creeping up on them and building their presence in the country, gobbling up old churches and putting up their Mosques wherever they wish. Recently in the news, some people wanted to take out the "In God We Trust" inscriptions on all US currency...My point being the degeneration continues today. Time will come that US society will blot out everything of God and believe that the nation was built by mere man. I won't be surprised if someday they will become a Divided States of America with different states having starkly contrasting sets of laws.
Rome was no different. They were not defeated by enemies. They deteriorated into never land because of the deterioration in values.
One can argue that there is no "Intelligent Design" but then again if you look at your own human body, how can you say that it is random when the so-called mutations are mostly consistent? Humans are still humans as far as I can remember, and they can talk, they can converse, they can build, they can help one another, agree, disagree, argue, and not kill themselves for dinner. The height, color of the eyes, or skin may change, but the basic make-up is pretty much the same like a CLK 63 is to a Civic.
You ever wonder how your eyes work, or your ears, or lungs? Do you ever get awestruck how that apple you chucked into your mouth becomes digested and turns into energy? Are you not fascinated by the ability of man to withstand weeks without food, days without water, and yet, not a second without brain power?
Ahhh...the brain. That complex computer in between your head that makes everything tick involuntarily and voluntarily to keep you alive, thinking, synchronizing your thoughts, and typing away in an organized and logical manner so that the other person on this page can read it and understand what you're trying to say?
And you say its random? Nah. I don't think so. Nothing so random can come up with something as complexed as the brain and work this way. Not without somebody like an Intelligent Designer.
If you don't believe design, how come you're working on a laptop that was "designed" by some artist and an engineer who put the software and hardware together, tested it for months, reproduced it in the millions, sold it to the shop, at the right price so that you could shell out your own money to buy it. Surely, somebody thought of that.
So if someone could think about building a computer as complex as this I'm holding now and shoot a post to you to send my thoughts, as sure as the sun rises from the east and sets on the west, there is Somebody who was more complex, more powerful, and more intelligent than the both of us who Designed us humans. And may I say, in His image and likeness.
Do you believe that you're just a mere and random accident in this world? But you've got intelligence, you can go where you want, think what you want, eat what you want, do what you want. You can choose to believe or not, to follow, to argue.
You've got free will.
Is free will random? Or maybe our definitions of random are different i.e. proceeding, made, or occurring without definite aim, reason, or pattern: the random selection of numbers.
It does not follow the definition doesn't it.
If you read the Old Testament, the history of humankind is littered with lessons about where man has headed if he does not believe in God. Ultimately, it is destruction. So, if you choose not to believe it, then its really up to you. Its your choice. You have free will.
Anyway, my hope is that you may all someday encounter the Lord Himself and find Him, so that you may come to know the God who designed you and me, and that we are not merely beings who came out randomly from nowhere because we were more intelligent, more assertive, or more powerful than the so-called "lower beings."
Peace to you, gentlemen.

i see inherited traits. i (we) am a present day survivor of natural selective pressure on our species
syempre (using your word) "consistent". coz you wouldnt be around today if you inherited "inconsistent" mutations
