January 27th, 2008 06:07 PM #14This being a 3rd world country, the cost of living is generally cheaper here (compared to 1st or 2nd world countries) except for products from a 1st world country of origin that gets taxed and dutied our usual exorbitant fees.
I'd say even life itself is generally cheaper here.

Bro, cars are generally(arguably) more expensive here in the Philippines, than in the US. For the same model, and price (when you consider the exchange rate), the cars here are strip-down version of the cars in the US. Less airbags, no ABS, no traction control etc....I am talking here of bang for the buck.
As for gasoline, based on my discussion with a relative who was vacationing here last week (he is from CA), the price of their 89 RON gasoline when converted from $/gallon to P/liter, is about the same price as our diesel.... And they're already complaining....
Appreciate comments from Tsikoteers in the US.

Unleaded gasoline (87) cost $2.83 per gallon at the gas station we go to.
1 gal = 3.79 liters
In Philippine pesos($1=P41):
$2.83/3.79L= P116.03
1L=P30.62
I'm not sure if that's cheaper. What's the price of unleaded gasoline in the Philippines? Also, is there even 87 octane gasoline over there? Most I've read in this forum indicates 89 or better.
**SIGH** I remember when it used to be $1.60/gal when we first moved here (AZ) in 2003.
It's still less than say, England where it just hit $7/gal. Ouch! Hmmm. I feel better already!Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; January 27th, 2008 at 08:26 PM.

Looks like TGPH silently edited the article and removed the entry for Velocita Motors/Ferrari.
