I also have to add that a lot of the trauma occurs during HS. By the time these kids reach college level, they normally grow out of it.
Unfortunately for those who got picked on, the grudges and call for revenge accumulates even after HS.
my heart goes out to all the victims and their families. i'll reserve my comments until all the facts are out.
The media paints that image, but the truth is the Columbine teens, the Pinoy De Anza bomber, and this kid now all suffered from some type of depression. The Columbine shooters were not the picked on kids that they were presented by the media and neither was the Pinoy De Anza bomber. I don't know about this case but the previous cases mentioned had parents that did not pay attention to what their children did. The Pinoy's parents was even quoted as saying they wanted to respect their son's privacy and he admitted that as long as things seemed normal his parents would not have any reason to talk to him. Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, and Al DeGuzman have never been described by people that knew them as teens who were picked on by other people, that is something that the media creates to justify/romanticize their actions. The things that all have in common is they all suffered from clinical depression and all were not close to their parents.
Shooting rampage is common there in the US of A but the main thing there is asian ang kumana..affected nanaman ang community lalo na sa mga states na meron racial discrimination tsk tsk tsk![]()
Something had to be causing that depression. I'm sure it doesn't just come out of the blue. Most people aren't born with the urge to waste other people. It has to be something in their environment and in school, that usually meant their peers and their social standing.

Depression in itself can make you think of death(suicide, killing, etc) there doesn't need to be extreme hate of others. Sometimes an irrational act can't be explained by rational thinking and the depression makes these kids think that what they are doing is rational. It could be because their parents never showed that they cared about their children or attempted to communicate with them and they felt alone or it could be a chemical imbalance. I am not one to place blame on parents for the actions of their children but we have to look at what was the home enviroment of these teens before they snapped. Lot's of children get picked on at school every school year but they don't go to the extreme of killing other students. Heck, when we first moved to the US when I was in a fight everyday for my first year attending school in the US but I never thought to kill my classmates. Could it be because when I got home my parents talked to me about these things and helped me to better adapt to my enviroment instead of being to busy to talk to me.
The main point here is that freely allowing citizens to own guns will, in all likelihood, increase the chances of another Columbine. If the killer had a machete, or knife, do you think he could have killed 32 people?? People could always run away from the scene, or overpower the killer. THAT'S MY POINT.Guns are not the basis of crime. Show me a guncontrol crazy society where crime has dropped. Try the UK. Not. Don't even look too far from home, try the Philippines. Compare per capita crime vs the US or any society where owning a gun is legally allowed. Criminals have no respect for laws against gun possession. You have to understand that first.
There will always be criminals, regardless of whether there is gun control or not. But if you RESTRICT access to guns, you lessen the chances of massacres occuring. And arming the university staff is not, in my view, a palatable solution.
That provision in the US Constitution, IMO, is outdated. The founding fathers put that in to prevent a tyrannical government, so that the citizens
would have the means to fight back.
"described as a depressed and deeply disturbed young man whose 'grotesque' creative writing projects led a professor to refer him for psychological counseling"
"but he would no go"
"seemed very angry"
"he was very quiet, always by himself"

naku po... madami ganyan sa states.
"kung gusto may paraan". one could acquire gun illegally if one pursues hard enough. it is not a matter of banning gun ownership. Banning legal gun ownership would only make the bad guys job easier for good guys wouldn't be able to defend himself.
the korean shooter was a "loony" and if only virginia tech counselors did their job properly they would have recognized the unstability of this persons mind and his potential for this thing to happen.
Kaya kung pwede lang wag nating sisihin yung baril at di naman puputok yon kung walang shooter.
Arsenic and Cyanide: Hindi rin naman makakamatay ito kung nakalagay lang sa bote. But why is it strictly regulated? Because it has the potential to kill a lot of people in minute doses.
Same with guns. It was meant to kill, and not simply to deter. It is the weapon of choice of mass murderers. It's cheap, efficient and can kill a lot in seconds. Strictly regulating it is a step in the right direction.
Of course, deaths will still happen, eventually a few will seep through the cracks, but at least it will still make it harder for criminals to bring their plan to fruition. Gagawa at gagawa sila ng paraan to circumvent the law to get hold of guns or cyanide, but some may eventually give up. So, we save lives in the process
To repeat, the massacre would not have happened if that "loony" Korean wasn't armed. Siguro nakapatay lang sya ng 5 at the most, but not 32.
RIP to the innocent victims.another blow to the american people
