    From the start, the Americans did not want us to be an incorporated territory/state. One case that originated in the Philippines during the U.S. occupation eventually ended up in the US Supreme Court. The issue was whether the jury system was applicable to cases being heard before Philippine courts. The US SC said "not."

    If we were part of America:

    -we will have the world's largest debt
    -no more t0rrents because of rabid RIAA
    -no more privacy because of NSA
    -more people will be in prison because of practically victimless crimes
    -farmers vs. Monsanto
    -bail outs for banking cartels
    -credit cards everywhere!
    -squatters on food stamps
