i'm not an economist, but
the claim is that the current situation is not due to the train, but to other conditions.
that may or may not be. but the fact is, lifting the tren will help the situation.
it's not about what caused it. it's about what can be done to alleviate it.
why can't our decision-makers see the logic?
am i missing something?

Lifting the TRAIN Law means bringing back the income tax for those earning below 250,000 per year (roughly 20,000 per month). And a bunch of other ridiculous tax procedures that our old taxation laws contains (inheritance, donations, etc).
IMO, the TRAIN Law has an effect on the rising prices of goods but rising oil prices in the world market compounded the problem. And the strategy of this government is not to alleviate the problem but to divert our attention to other issues tsk tsk tsk
Decisions are always multi factorial, in this case the two majors are a) Political b) Economics
Economics wise, additional tax is additional expense for us, additional revenues for the government. It's now turning up to be more burden than help.
Politically, they are having a hard time swallowing their pride, that they made a mistake, at least in it's timing.
Dr. D, it's very hard for someone to face the problem if the problem is their face.![]()
Looking at the Key Provisions of TRAIN 1

Federalism???
Honestly, you can change to whatever form of government you like, but if the same people are still going to be running it (corrupt politicians, business families who ran for office just to protect their own financial interests, etc.) it will make no difference.![]()
Sorry, magka-iba ba ang "TRAIN 2" and "TRABAHO?"
Speaker Arroyo delivers, passes TRABAHO at House | Philstar
Under TRABAHO, companies operating in the Philippines will pay a lower income tax of 20 percent by 2029 from currently 30 percent. The bill provides a staggered reduction of 2 percent each year beginning 2021.
While corporate income tax rates will go down, firms operating in economic zones will have to deal with less tax incentives. Specifically, TRABAHO aims to cut make tax perks like income tax holidays time-bound, performance-based and targeted on specific industries.
The peso's weakness along with the stock market is not due to train law but the build3x program of the government. It is depleting our dollar reserves thus lowering the value of our peso and higher inflation. The gov't need to slow down for a little while and not push too much of this build2x program. The other issue that should be considered is to remove or suspend the tax on gasoline and/or diesel fuels.
Income tax breaks await Filipinos in 2023 | Manila Bulletin
But other taxpayers in higher income brackets, except those who are earning more than P8 million, will enjoy lower tax rates ranging from 15 percent to 30 percent by 2023.
Effectively, it decreased the tax rates by five percent for those with taxable income of more than P250,000 up to P2 million, while a two percent reduction in tax rate was noted for those individuals earning of more than P2 million up to P8 million.
It's trump's fault according to duh30
