Rogelio is actually better off than many other jeepney drivers

he owns his own jeepney and he has a relatively decent house

Bakit si GMA na naman sinama sa video? Some of the ills go back way before GMA's time. Also the church was heavily criticized in the documentary, yet no mention of it... The lack of job oppurtunities is more due to the lack of direct investment, especially foreign. No foreigner would want to invest in a country where their constitution says you have no control over your money...

plus he treats his family once in a while * jollibee.

mukhang malaki ang naitulong ng family planning.

He would be much better off if his two married(?) sons and their family don't rely on his wages...

    according to the docu.

josh earns more money than rogelio does if he works only for an hour compared to the 12 hours of rogelio's work.

The cost of living in London is higher than in Manila. Think what will happen if our PUVs were to charge equal to the fares in London. Just look at the attempt to raise the LRT rates. Kahit reasonable naman, nagwawala na yung mga militante...

A better education doesn't gurantee jobs. And if the apos do find a job, I hope the apo can keep her wages to herself. Endemic rin sa pinoy na umaasa sa mga magulang o sa mga kamag anak kahit may trabaho.

Kudos to the TS for a great find.

Hope Jeremy Clarkson and the gang see this and decide to do one of their Top Gear challenges here.

    Relatively speaking, you're right here.

Josh did go to Tondo and witnessed how pag pag was sourced, re-cooked and eaten there.

Honestly, I was shocked. I saw some videos and documentaries about this matter in the past, but this BBC's documentary is more direct and visceral.

Makes me think that urban poverty might be more degrading than rural poverty...

But then I remember the recent field visit I joined in a rural area in Pangasinan where some extremely poor people committed suicide out of poverty...

it's good to know na paaralin niya anak ni Rogelio. The question is, may mapapala kaya ito? The trouble with pagpapaaral sa mga mahihirap outside of scholarships is minsan nauuwi sa wala kasi mediocre pa rin yong intellect ng estudyante.
