There were no Special Economic Zones during the Marcos years. Kung may mga factory man, pag nikita ng government na maganda ang profits ng factory na yan, ina-agaw nila, thru quasi-legal tactics.

    One example: The steel industry.

The Toll on Human Lives and Rights | Martial Law Files

According to an Amnesty Report dated 11-28 November 1981:

In the first three years of martial law, over 50,000 people were arrested under the emergency regulations, almost all of whom were detained without charge or trial. The Amnesty International mission which visited the Philippines in November to December 1975 was officially informed that 6,000 people were still detained as of May 1975. The 1975 mission found that 71 of the 107 prisoners interviewed alleged that they had been tortured. The mission found also that torture occurred most often during interrogation after arrest when detainees were commonly held incommunicado, often in secret holding centres known as ‘safehouses’. “
meron ka ba nabalitaan na 50,000 tao hinuli dahil lamang sa pag hindi pag sangayon sa gobyerno?

Oh really? There were very few industries that Marcos Cronies did not control. AND the sending of OFWs to Saudi started during the time of Marcos... Remember when did Toyota and Ford closed down?

    retz,

yung pila pag dumating ako ng 4am ng umaga number 2000+ na ako. kaya nga natutulog na kami sa kalsada para lang mauna sa pila mag-apply. and mind you, puro engineers yun applying for a minimum wage job. nung nakahanap ako ng work mas mataas pa sweldo ng janitor sa akin. kinainggitan pa ako ng co-graduates ko kasi may trabaho ako sila wala.

Biggest Example: Philippine Blooming Mills Steel... Imelda and cronies wanted it. The owners let it go bankrupt and fled to the US...

Both went belly up in the early 80's. AFAIK Toyota, then Delta Motors Corp closed its doors late 1984. Ford closed down its Sucat assembly plant during those times too.

    OT: But somewhat related.

Here's a story of how Rene Knecht was stripped of all his wealth by the Marcos government.
