    Stumbled upon this interesting infographic outlining how NEDA classifies people into A-B-C-D-E. Turns out it's not just your household income (otherwise a lot of people will be AB).

    It's a rather subjective classification with some weird quirks such as:

    - If you're not from the top universities, you can't be AB
    - If your car is more than 5 yrs old, you can't be AB

    According to the NEDA survey, among Filipinos aged 15-50 in 2015:

    -Around 0.6% were class AB;
    -Around 5% were class “Upper C”;
    -Around 17% were class “Broad C”;
    -Around 48% were class D;
    -Around 29% were class E.
    Around .6% of Filipinos aged 18-53 are considered Class AB – Asintunado

    Turns out even market research firms like Nielsen, SWS, and Pulse Asia use similar definitions.

    What is the prize if you are class AB? Bragging rights? Red carpet treatment?

    Seems like the qualification for AB is tailored fit for certain few. Or am i missing something?

    Yup. They live in Pasay where the streets are so narrow, you can't even fit a car. It's just for people to walk.

    The wife became an online seller and when they were earning good already, they moved to an apartment (still in Pasay) where there is parking for their hilux. Based on the table they are Upper C (bagsak sa location and education) but the rest AB sila, Personally, I think they moved from poor to lower middle class.

    Hindi strict yung table. May nag post dito ang tindi ng requirements to be considered AB, parang 1% lang siguro papasa lol. You need cash ata equivalent or close to the value of your assets. I can't remember exactly.

    Yeah hindi strict ung table

    And may generalizations like poor low education rich well educated

    Madami naman rich na di mataas ang pinagaralan pero magaling sa business

    While madami educated middle class lang
