Naisip ko lang since nahihirapan ngayon ang ating fishing industry why not the government construct a canal from Manila Bay to Pacific Ocean via Laguna Lake.

I think may proposal si Palafox to construct a spillway via Paranaque to Manila Bay.

    What do you think?

At the closest, Laguna De Bay is 20+ km away from the Pacific and while the elevation between the 2 bodies of water is practically the same, you still need to cut through an average of 400m thick rock. Unless you want to build a complex system of locks. And to be economically viable the locks have to be large enough to handle big cargo ships and tankers, small fishing boats won't be economical enough to justify the cost. And what about the depth of Laguna De Bay and Pasig River. Can they accommodate big ships?

Fishing will be done in Pacific Ocean and to be transported sa Fish Port.

Yep. Two ways ang direction ng laguna de bay. Usually palabas from lake to Manila Bay. Just not sure by how much or if significant enough. Baka mas significant yung basura at plastik kesa sa tubig alat

i remember of the plan, some years ago.
but for some, perhaps political, reason, the plan was conveniently forgotten ("shelved", is probably the politically correct word.)

if you're gonna dig a canal from laguna lake to manila bay...

you gotta build several bridges to make up for the roads na nawala

not to mention the right of way problems

ung skyway 3 construction mabagal ang progress dahil sa right of way problems

    poste poste lang yan

imagine the right of way problems with this idea

Papuntang Manila Bay palang iyan. Di pa kasama yung eastward thru Quezon Province. Matatapos iyan by 2250 AD.[emoji38]

Based sa post earlier na closest point of Laguna Bay to Pacific is around 20km... And checking Google Maps... I think Masikap Quezon will be the closest point...

So Bagumbayan Paete to Masikap Quezon (sorry, di talaga ako familiar sa provinces kaya estiate lang)

Masikap to Cubao is only 115kms (4 hours as per Google Maps)

I think it will be cheaper to just widen the road para yung huling isda sa umaga can reach Manila before noon.

Or just build a train! (Mas malayo pa travel ng gulay from Baguio to Manila)

In early 2015, the Thai Canal (102km long/400m wide) was estimated to cost USD 20-25 billion.

If we build a canal at 20km long, 200m wide...

The Suez canal was made because ships had to go around the Cape of Good Hope to get from europe to india and beyond. The canal in Panama was made because ships had to go all the way down to Las Islas del Fuego to go from the Atlantic to the Pacific. And you want this canal to do what?

Saka yung ibang plan pala is to decongest Metro Manila pero pag nagkaroon nito eh dadami lalo mga tao.

The problem will actually be " Right of ways." This will eat up a lot of funds with a seasoning of corruption.

Going east i.e. the Pacific/Quezon province will not be much of a problem for "right of way" as its still mostly farmland and forests.
