That's very true. I know some who don't charge fees anymore as well (meds nalang and other assorted needs)... So dapat pati yan i-post (pag poor: PXXX, Pag middle class: P XXXX, Pag rich: PXXXXXXXXX).

Ako ba ito? I just did a free emergency tracheostomy on a poor fellow and a thyroidectomy on one of the farm folks. Hehe. Dapat ba siningil ko sila? Hehe

When I was asked about the posting of rates, here is what I had to answer:
" Because it has always been considered unethical in our vocation. Being a physician is not the same as being a commodity. Sure we have our 'usual' rates for consults, procedures and whatnot. But do you think we can strictly adhere by it? Example, my usual consultation fee as a board certified specialist really is Php450-500 but most days of the week I also volunteer at a government hospital and don't charge a nickel for consults. I also see HMO (card) patients. But HMO's will rarely pay a doctor his 'full' PF. Most of the time, it's just around Php255.00/patient instead of the usual rate. When I do surgery, I charge what is considered the 'usual' private rate in the area (yes, it varies from city to city). But when I see patients that are classified as 'WWW' (walang walang wala) but need to undergo surgery, as long as they can afford to pay the corresponding hospital fees, I and my partner anesthesiologist do not mind operating for free. And yes, those patients will pay us with fruits, flowers, and even live animals if they see fit. For me, as long as we pay the correct taxes and render the proper services, there should be no need to post a rate for everything we do. I run a clinic, not a beauty parlor."

Lawyers charge professional fees based on the nature and complexity of the cases referred to them, taking into account also their knowledge, experience and standing in the legal profession. So, putting up a menu-type of services indicating the price for such service is really difficult.

The only way to comply with the proposed BIR rule without prejudicing the lawyer's ability to charge for his fees would be to just indicate his hourly rate for services rendered, regardless of what kind of work it entails.

Lalabas, mas mahal ang magiging singil kasi wala nang "bucket services" wherein you can package a combination of services for a fixed fee. Tapos, wag ka nalang mag-pro bono, kasi yung metro mo me singil tapos meron ka nang tax liability despite the fact that you weren't paid.

BIR can only dream about it or request for professionals to implement but never force the execution as they are not an implementing or regulatory agency on rates. Their pure mandate is revenue collection not rates control or anything about this posting thing. Besides, medical and law practice is a free market, if you want a private professional get ready to pay for it. If you want free, there's always goverment hospitals and PAO.

But no doubt she is doing more good than bad.

If alam mo naman na in the end free reign pa rin professionals sa gusto nilang rate, why then be so upset?

It's the COA and DOJ's job to account for it. Not BIR's. Iba-iba sila nanag trabaho. Gusto mo ata isang tao na kaya i-solve lahat nang problema eh. Good luck.

IMO the damn govt can collect taxes all they want as long as we the taxpayers know that its going to be used properly.

This issue stinks because of the timing...para bang kakaholdap lang sayo, dinidiskartehan ka pa ng holdaper kung pano ka hoholdapin in the future..

Buti pa nga yung holdapers na nabalita dati, pagkatapos kang limasin bibigyan ka ng sandaan para makauwi..yung gobyerno pagkatapos kang holdapin sinasabi pa sayo kng anong gagawin para mas maholdap ka in the future.

"She said that out of the estimated 1.7 million professionals registered with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), only about 400,000 have registered as taxpayers with the BIR."

Malamang panu the rest are finding greener pastures sa abroad!. Sa healthcare, majority ng mga students ang goal is to go abroad. Call them unpatriotic but I can't fault their reason: Their children has no future here. Grabe migration ng mga doktor nung ang taas ng demand ng nurses sa US tapos sabay pang naging presidente si ERAP.

I am even hearing that the BIR has entrapment procedures to some doctors: May pupunta sa clinic kunwari pasyente pag wala resibo, registration etc. penalty yung doktor! Potek parang kriminal yun ah bat di nila kaya gawin yan dun sa mga magnanakaw talaga sa gobyerno? Tapos magtataka sila kung bakit kulang ang doktor nurses etc sa ibang parte ng Pilipinas

The government of the republic of the philippines is a single entity. Saka may internal audit dvision ang bir. And all government agencies are mandated by law to coordinate. So if they dont do their job, i have every right to be upset.

Profesionals like lawyers and doctors dapat maglagay ng price list.
