    The power shortage happened in the first place because the power sector was run by goverment. The NPC was mismanaged and in debt. The private sector took advantage of this, getting gurranteed return from a goverment willing to sacrifice long term pain. Anything goverment run always end up falling apart. Think NAIA 1 and MRT.

    How much power do we need? Which do we address first - demand or supply?

    It's high time we actively invest on energy efficient technologies. Hindi yung pang promo at papogi lang.

    If we can't go nuclear, I suggest geothermal.

    IMHO, it is no different with the private sector when it comes to franchise/monopoly businesses like power

    public sector = public greed

    private sector = private greed

    the Phils. is already leading the world when it comes to geothermal power

    with so much new construction (commercial and residential) to be connected to the power grid talaga kakapusin ang supply

    all the new condos and houses... every one lalagyan ng aircons&appliances

    all the new malls...

    Tagal na kasi sinabihan ang gov't na the power situation is getting bad. In fact, businesses have raised this concern long before but still the administration has not acted on it.

    Time to man up, Mr. Alemndras. Oh, you too, Mr. President. Jeez. What'll it take for you to get your act together on this?
