Wala na dapat People Power. I'm sure a lot of us are sick and tired of taking to the streets and yet nothing good will come out of it. Tama na. We were once hailed because of the peaceful PP '86, but now I'm sure other nations are either laughing their guts out or throwing up at the sight of how we handle our democracy here via frequent street protests. Time Magazine (or Newsweek?) once branded us as clowns among the new breed of democracies because of our frequent political crises. Lee Kuan Yew once said that democracy isn't working here 'coz Pinoys are uneducated. The question is are we proving him right?

Well those remarks came from a man who shaped Singapore into what is today. I visited Singapore a few years back and can't help but wish na sana ganyan kaayos ang Pilipinas.

Sir devastator, HKG maybe but Sing? No way. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you're happy. It's run like the Lees' own private company. A gathering of more than 5 (or 10? I forgot) people in a public area = arrest there. Do you know that if you want to open a grocery you have to apply (and pay 'processing fee') to Lee Kuan Yew's wife? Tsk tsk.

Ever wonder, why they even need a "Smile Campaign?"

For the lowdown on Hong Kong, look for the Wall Street Journal's tribute to Sir John Cowperthwaite (he used to be head of Finance and he was given the credit of making HKG what it was pre-1997). Now, that's a leader.

Whatever I post are solely my opinions...

Sana naman nde para sa wala ang independence natin, baka isipin ng ibang bansa na nde pa rin tayo nagbabago. Indio pa rin... If I was an investor I'd stay clear of the Philippines, no clear future and a very unstable lower class.

Ang karamihan ng mga pilipino ay mga makasarili, nde makabansa. Hindi na natuto ang nakakarami.

democracy is not manifested during the ousting of a dictator or during elections or even by freedom of speech. democracy is fully manifested and realized when the welfair of everyone is taken care of and protected by everyone. democracy is by having respect for each and everyone regardless of who they are and what they did. freedom of speech does not mean expressing oneself, but by being responsible for one's action and words.

democracy is not realized during elections, but during in-between elections.

democracy will never be realized until people do not realize that in democracy, "its not what the country could give you, but what you could give to your country. this country would ONLY HAVE responsibilty to you, if you fulfill all your obligations to it." the mere fact that you are stepping in its soil and breathing its air is more than enough for you to give your life by working hard for its glory.

Filipinos does not know what it democracy really means... because if they do, nobody would go on the streets and rally. nobody would convict anyone unless proven without any reasonable doubt. nobody would vote unless they work. and everyone would be paying their taxes just to belong to this great country...

if edsa 4 would happen... even 10million people would join it... i would not be there... in fact i would go head-on-collission with them... thats the only thing i could do to protect the welfair of this country...

i partly agree with you. i think that PEACEFUL rallies and protests serve an important purpose in democracy - it shows leaders that the people are holding them accountable and puts pressure on them not to do bad things.

however, i agree 100% that when a rally is not really a rally but a mob attempting to destabilize a government, then nothing good can come out of it. i think that the worst thing about EDSA 1 was it made mob rule and near-anarchy the preferred way of enacting change.

Last night, while watching the stand-off at fort Bonifacio...I am thinking of this is as the starting point of another uprising,,,Military official holed-up inside their camp, people / nuns/ priest praying the rosary...But...the event everybody is waiting didnt happen... lumalabas tuloy na TH yung nangayari kagabi in a sense na pilit nilang ginagaya ang Edsa 1..Sa totoo lang,, parang may kulang kaya hinde matuloy-tuloy yung gusto nilang People Power ulit...Siguro maging ang mga tao ay sawa na rin sa ganitong scenario... ano sa tingin ninyo?

    pati media caught surprised ...

    Absolutely not!

Even if I don't like the present leadership, I won't join or support any form of civil disobedience. I love my country more and to join the few self centered bunch will damage my fellow Juan than help. I will exercise my right to vote during election time. In between those, I will work hard and stop blaming somebody else when something goes wrong. I will be grateful for any blessing received.

they cant crush (NOBODY CAN CRUSH is better) the GMA administration...

    statistics would tell us why...

during the Aquino admin, after the coup the business in the country went down really hard (more than 20%)

during the gma admin, weeks after the oakwood mutiny, the market is by 6%
8 weeks after the garci tape release we are up by 21%

the confidence of the international community kay gloria is unbelievable... if GMA is really walang kwenta how is this happening? maybe she is, but in the end... mukhang hindi FULLY dependent ang economy sa president... so why change her?

what doesnt kill you makes you stronger... so i guess GMA is stronger than ever... another failed coup attempt and she would become stronger again...
