Let's see...US, Germany, Ausrtria, Sweden, Canada, Switzerland...Google is your friend.
Gambling casinos have a long European tradition, but much has changed in recent years.
All three of the largest German-speaking countries (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) have state-controlled gambling casinos, but Switzerland only began allowing casinos in 2000.
Hehehe..na 1-2-3 ang PAGCOR
HOUSE Deputy Minority Leader Danilo Suarez on Thursday dared the Philippine Gaming and Amusement Corp. to make public how government-run casinos lost P400 million to a foreign gambling syndicate in just one week in May.
“Pagcor admitted the Parañaque casino lost P150 million, but that is in one casino alone,” Suarez told the Manila Standard.
“There are two more casinos where the government lost P250 million more, bringing the total to P400 million.”
Suarez identified the government-run casinos as those in the Manila Pavillion Hotel and Heritage Hotel, where the government lost P100 million and P150 million, respectively.
“All told, the government lost P150 million in the Parañaque casino, which they confirmed, P100 million in Manila Pavillion, and another P150 million in Heritage Hotel,” Suarez said.
“The losses amounted to P400 million and these are public funds.”
The congressman from Quezon also demanded to know why the members of the syndicate, who were said to have been holding Chinese and Malaysian passports, were allowed to post bail.
“Now, Pagcor officials are saying the members of the syndicate cannot be located anymore after they posted bail,” he said.
“They were allowed to flee the country. So how do they think they can recover the P400 million now?”
Suarez on Wednesday said the gang had rigged the game, allowing one player wearing a small camera on the wrist to scan the cards and transmit the information to another accomplice.
He said five to six syndicate members were deployed to the government-run casinos, but Pagcor officials said they caught only three.
“I demand an official investigation on this matter because the reports reaching my office showed P400 million in losses in just a week for three casinos, but there are nine more government-run casinos,” Suarez said.
He also wanted Pagcor officials to explain why the suspects were allowed to flee the country without Pagcor recovering the money first.

I guess it's safe to assume that kung meron anomaly sa bidding and awarding ng contract then meron din anomaly sa price...yes?

dyan dapat nagsisimula ng investigation(awarding); yung dati ng problema sa pilipinas. not on "expose" na parang ginagawa na gumastos ang gobyerno sa ganitong kape. so parang nakukuryente. for me mas dapat pagtuunan ng pansin yung election at helicopter issue(another topic of course). di yung parang lumalabas e papogian na lahat sila at the expense of a corrupt official. who knows ang vested interest ng mga present govt officer na to. sometimes yung di pumuputak ang succesful in pinning govt official. rare breed ang official na ang mandate is to "serve".
re: san babawiin. they are all smart enough kung san babawiin yan. yan ang magaling sa mga corrupt people. they are adapting to the new laws of the land. di sila passive. yung mga investigation sa senado ngayon di mo ba napapansin puro luma. sabi nga nung isang taga military during the senate inquiry, panahon pa ni makopa yang style na yan. me bago na. :D

not necessarily. di naman tanga yang mga yan. syempre itatago nila yung anomaly sa di basta basta makikita ng tao. kung ganyan katanga yan e di pwede maging corrupt yan. kaya nga di corrupt ang presidente eh. :D
obvious na me tinanatago kaya ginamit ang maiden name. but the problem is hangang idea lang tayo. mahihirapan kumbinsihin ang "beyond reasonable doubt" sa husgado

July 30th, 2011 12:03 PM #47It started as an expose and i Believe that they will start an investigation.

investigation is good. grandstanding, i dont know. the problem is we dont prioritize what we should investigate first. di ba dapat unahin natin yung mga maganda ng case. or lagi na lang mapupunta sa wala yan. ang makikinabang lang e yung mga gusto magpapogi kasi malapit na election. wag mo imedia ang investigation walang gana yang mga yan. investigation also cost money. so dapat investigate wisely.
masyado marami gumagaya kay ex-Senator Maceda (Mr. Expose). sana magaya rin sila sa kinalalagyan nya.

Can anyone cite a goverment official behind bars because of a senate investigation since the time of Cory? Ano nangyari sa mga Senate investigation led by Enrile against then Presidentiable Manny Villar? Yung Kuratong Baleleng against then Gen. Panfilo Lacson? Yung attempted kidnapping ng Whistleblower kuno ng ZTE? Huwag na kayo aasa na Senate investigation will accomplish anything other than in aid of re election.
