Military officials had reservations on promoting him to the officers’ rank as this requires a college degree.

But Pacquiao’s honorary doctorate degree on humanities conferred by the Southwestern University in Cebu on Feb. 18, 2009, served the purpose, and also his election as Sarangani congressman in May last year, said Cabunoc.

“He has an honorary degree, that’s recognized… as well as his being an elected official,"

at least he is promoted not according to his fame.....

pero what will happen if Phil go to war?

lahat ba ng nasa reserve unit na may rank will also go to battle fields or will handle office job?

    Either:
    1. He's going to lead us into battle (ala 300:?).
    2. He'll go the US to train for his next fight.

What's the merit of promoting him? Has he undergone actual military training? I do think there are many, many more men out on the field, fighting who deserve recognition.

controversial nanaman ito dahil dapat for that rank daw degree holder, eh yun honorary it's just that honorary...so dapat daw hinde considered yun..nakuha niya yun "degree" niya na walang hirap. sabi ng isang babae na hinde ko alam pangalan.

I agree, he should not have been promoted. There are more needy armed personnel wo would benefit more from this.

Parang special treatment mapag-usapan lang. Plus for sure without any background in military (CAT or ROTC for that matter) he will just be a pencil pusher in times of war unless d do volunteer to fight in the field.
