I saw this in one news item.....

In General Santos, some reports came out that loser Manny Pacquiao has given P20,000 to P50,000 per barangay chairman and is estimated to have spent at least P200 million, a sizeable amount which went to close campaign aides.

Science or BSBA. Either in UP or Notre Dame. Pero di raw niya iiwan ang boxing.

Sana nga, para di naman siya napupulaan ng mga kalaban niya sa pulitika, come 2010.

    Pacquiao withdraws millions from banks

    By JUN VALLECERA
    Business Mirror Reporter

A locally-based thrift bank and two branches of regular commercial banks based in Manila are having difficulties servicing their clients panicked by the sudden withdrawal of most of the deposits of boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.

Informed sources said Pacquiao withdrew all his money from a bank in General Santos City as he conducted a personal audit and found he spent more than P140 million in election-related expenses but was still trounced by his diminutive political opponent.

The withdrawal triggered similar withdrawals in two other banks in the city whose own clients heard of the sudden Pacquiao withdrawal, according to the sources.

According to the sources, Pacquiao, who ran under the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi), was miffed that his Metro Manila-based political principals did not deliver their end of the bargain as he sought the reimbursement of expenses arising from his decision to seek an elective position in his native province of South Cotabato.

There was a reported deal for Pacquiao to spend from out of his personal pockets, with the principals pledging to reimburse every centavo spent at the end of the campaign period.

According to sources, Pacquiao called his political principals as it became clear just days before the actual May 14 elections that he would lose his bid to get a congressional seat, only to have them cut the phone line abruptly.

Subsequent attempts to reestablish contact proved futile, and this led Pacquiao to take all his money from the banks, ostensibly so the boxing champion could take stock of what was left of his personal wealth, the sources said.

Meanwhile, a member of Team Pacquiao said it was possible that the superstar boxer did lose that much money in his attempt to become a congressman.

“The P140-million plus Manny lost, [that] could be true,” a Pacquiao confidante said. “Definitely, it’s not lower than P100 million.”

One instance relating to how Pacquiao was duped is how two operators charged the boxer P500,000 but never worked for him after being paid.

Pacquiao to run for Sarangani House Seat

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines—Just last Friday, world boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao parried questions about his future political plans here.

"Malayo pa ang 2010, kalimutan muna natin ang politika (2010 is far off, let’s set aside politics for the meantime)," Pacquiao said, when asked to confirm talks he was eyeing the lone congressional seat in Sarangani Province.

But on Monday morning, shortly after he transferred his voter's registration in Kiamba, the hometown of his wife, Jinkee, he declared he would run for congressman in Sarangani in 2010. "I've decided to run in Sarangani because by 2010, I consider the congressional seat vacant," Pacquiao told reporters.

Sarangani Representative Erwin Chiongbian is on his last term. The Chiongbians made a public pronouncement a few months ago that undefeated former governor Priscilla Chiongbian will run for Congress. But many people doubted the capacity of the Chiongbian matriarch to sustain or finish the 45-day rigorous campaign due to her deteriorating health condition. The former provincial executive is already wheelchair-bound and could hardly walk or talk.

"Plano kong tumakbo dito sa Sarangani. Preparasyon ito para sa 2010 (I plan to run for office here in Sarangani. This is my preparation for 2010)," Pacquiao said. The Filipino ring icon was a registered voter in General Santos, where he ran against and lost to Darlene Custodio in a lopsided contest for South Cotabato’s first congressional district seat in 2007.

Pacquiao, along with some local politicians who kept on chasing his shadow, motored to Kiamba before proceeding to Maitum to join the 40th day commemoration of the death of his friend, former mayor Felix Reganit.
From there, the Pacquiao group went to Maasim to visit evacuees displaced by the armed fighting between the government troops and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Local politicians who accompanied Pacquiao to Kiamba were Malungon mayor Reynaldo Constantino, former Alabel town mayor Narciso Grafilo, former Malapatan town mayor Alfonso Singcoy, former Kiamba town mayor Danny Martinez, as well as incumbent board members Victor James Yap and Lemuel Gacula.

Pacquiao was mobbed by fans who tried to shove each other just to take the picture of, or catch a close glimpse of their boxing hero.

Aside from Chiongbian, the other possible Pacquiao opponent is incumbent governor Miguel Dominguez. All three are known allies of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Chiongbian and Dominguez are known billionaires, and so is Pacquiao.

    Ito na nga ba eh!

Joining the political bandwagon esp. Congress would certainly make Pacquiao's motives quite questionable.

Unang-una ano gawin niya sa Lower House? Di naman siya abugado. Ma-expose lang siya sa mga buwaya duon.

At least man lang if he is bent on really entering politics, gawin niya when is already done prizefighting.

Better if he will give part of his earnings setting up foundation or a cooperative that would give jobs to our fellow countrymen.

This way, his motives will not be questioned. This way, he will forever be endeared and leaving his good legacy intact.

Using popularity for political gain would turn-off many. Isa na ako!

pwede ba natin itaya sa tcash, kung panalo or talo siya?

hay naku..Pacman, kailan ka ba matututo?

if he really wanted to enter politics, at least sana mag Mayor na lang muna siya and not as Representative...another Senator Lito Lapid in the making eh

I think he is more suited to be a Mayor...

    SANA MATALO SIYA!!!
