OPSF was a huge mess. Let's not go into that again.

Obviously the funds to stabilize fuel prices have to come from somewhere, and ultimately that's taxes. Nangyari when we had OPSF was that the common man who commutes to work ends up subsidizing the mayayamans who use their cars.

Oil Price Stabilization Fund failed, better options exist | The Manila Times

Reviving the OPSF is a terrible idea because it would keep pump prices high when world oil prices fall. This is the other side of the coin, so to speak, of the argument that the fund would subsidize fuel rates when pump prices rise. People forget that the OPSF failed because the market will always be a more efficient determinant of prices.

Certainly, something has to be done about the steep increases in pump prices. Some suggest suspending the excise tax on fuel, which is another bad idea because of poor targeting. To put it bluntly, why should the wealthy, who buy relatively more fuel than other consumers, enjoy a subsidy? The government already has a mechanism for this situation, which is a fuel subsidy for drivers of public utility vehicles. That too has targeting flaws, but it is better than suspending the excise tax, which is needed to raise funds for the government's economic recovery programs.

Mangyayari dahil kay Kags, siya ang dahilan bakit tumataas price ng fuel dahil universe is agreeing with him daw. [emoji16]

Lahat ng sinabi niya, tumpak. Naging legend na nga daw sa mga forum. Na predict yun Greg slaughter. Biggest achievement in history.

Russia’s key oil customer has no plans to ban it. China will continue its stand.

domestic politics sa US -- mababa approval rating ni biden

lalo na ngayon $5 per gallon gasoline nila -- that won't help his approval rating

desperado ang biden admin to bring oil prices down para bumaba ang presyo ng gasolina

    kaya kinakausap saudi, venezuela, iran

Tumaas na approval rating plus mataas ang approval sa sanctions against Russia 80+% yata, So this is the right time for the oil sanction.

Well, Russia's invation already affected fuel prices so ano pang mawawala for banning them.

    Short term pain.

Saka parang ang nababasa ko since nagumpisa ito. Hinde gagawin ng US pag ban. They can't do it. Putin has the upper hand. Hinde gagawin dahil mababa approval rating ni lolo Biden. US has no guts to do it.

Ngayon ginawa iba nanaman narrative ayan tumaas fuel price, lalo tataas. They're desperate pababain yun price takot sila sa approval rating.

Eh alam naman ng US in fact sinabi ni lolo Biden na some European allies might not be able to follow suit because of their dependancy sa Russian oil.

So it's shut up or put up. US put up.

    So what now?
