Things I've learned from the industry.
Oil is cheaper if drilled from land (rigs are very expensive)
Less rigs means better income from traditional oil wells (from land)
If oil is too cheap, traders will keep them floating (in storage) and wait until prices go up
If oil is too expensive, its just a matter of time when oil wells increase their output to maximize profit, thus bringing the price down again.
Oil will not last forever, the higher the price the less people will consume and the longer traditional oil producers will enjoy their oil.
"Winter market" should be around 70% of an oil trader's annual income... if they can't maximize profit during these times, we should start looking at hybrids for our next car purchase.

OPEC barely increased output last month amid chronic struggles | OPEC News | Al Jazeera
OPEC’s 13 members increased production by only 50,000 barrels a day in December as slight gains across the group were wiped out by a 140,000 barrel-a-day decline in Libya, according to the survey. They pumped 28.14 million barrels a day in total. The North African nation was stricken with a blockade of its western fields by militias, forcing the closure of its biggest reservoir, Sharara.
Frustrations ∝Oil price hike

IMO... Gov't should partner with Gas Stations to offer tax free fuel to PUVs and Delivery Vehicles (incl trucks)
I understand that the recent price hikes are painful to us private motorists, but we can't keep increasing fare and prices of basic commodities.
wala pa naman fare increase
the gov't is sitting on it coz once nagtaas ng pamasahe mag dedemand ng minimum wage increase ang labor
and that will drive inflation which the gov't is trying to keep within a target range
