    Lacierda on Manzano tweet: 'Tsismis!'


    MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – President Benigno Aquino III directly addressed a tweet from actor Edu Manzano that the he was allegedly spotted at The Promenade in Greenhills on a date with Grace Lee earlier today.

    In a speech during the celebration of the 115th founding anniversary of the Office of the President at the Palace on Thursday, Aquino denied he was in Greenhills, stressing that he was at the Palace presiding over the board meeting of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

    "Medyo nakakatawa rin nang konti. Kanina ho may nag-tweet. Ako raw ay buong araw ay namamasayal sa Greenhills, may date," Aquino said.

    "Meron talagang walang magawa. 'Yun 'yung kailangan natin ihanap ng trabaho. Dahil nag-iimbento ng kwento kung ano-ano. Pero tumawa na lang tayo. Ganun ho talaga siguro, parte na ng ating lipunan," he added.

    In his speech, the President said that major projects were discussed during the NEDA board meeting, including the extension of the LRT 1 up to Bacoor, Cavite.

    "Inaasahan natin na i-extend natin itong light rail system natin, 'yung LRT 1, will go up to Bacoor," Aquino said.

    The bachelor president has been criticized by activists of not doing anything to address issues such as high oil prices.

    'Nakuryente ako'

    At past 2 p.m. on Thursday, Manzano tweeted: “PNoy and Grace Lee spotted at Promenade Greenhills today. In the middle of the day. To be fair, it IS a nice day for a leisurely stroll.”

    Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda replied a half hour later, saying, “Your tweet is tsismis. The President is presiding over a NEDA meeting. It started at 10, the meeting is still ongoing.”

    Manzano and Lacierda’s tweets quickly spread over Twitter, triggering tweets of “Which is true?”

    At 4:40 p.m., Manzano apologized for his posts.

    "PNoy was NOT in Promenade with Grace Lee today. It was unconfirmed gossip, and I was overeager. I deserve all the backlash. Lesson learned," he tweeted.

    "Sorry for the confusion, everyone. In local parlance, 'nakuryente' ako, and I was foolish to tweet unconfirmed chismis," the actor added.

    He did not say where he got the rumor.

    "noynoying".... hahahahaha

    amazing that most probably those that are crying this are those that may have voted for him in the first place

    because they thought that having an "honest" candidate win the presidency was better

    than getting any of the obviously more qualified other candidates last election.

    hehehehe

    anyhow... alalahanin nyo na lang na mababa naman talaga ang expectations nyo ke penoy in the first place.

    people voted for Noynoy not out of sympathy

    it's coz he's Ninoy's and Cory's son

    Noynoy's political party saw the turnout at Cory's funeral

    it was an awesome display of people power

    people loved Cory

    the Aquino brand was at its most powerful

    Noynoy's political party couldnt let something like that go to waste

    they took advantage of the opportunity

    they knew if Noynoy ran for president he would win

    they convinced Noynoy to run

    and the rest is history
